Hi I'm Whitney Wright

I'm a college student on a mission in San Jose, California. I love reading, traveling, languages, and I am a mormon.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of three kids- two girls and a boy. I had a rocky start that included open heart surgery and a few miracles but was able to have a "normal" childhood. I played soccer and developed a strong love of reading and learning. I also had the opportunity to grow up with a special needs younger sister, who taught me many things including patience, kindness, understanding, and most importantly love. I moved to Georgia when I was 11 and loved growing up in the bible belt where so many people were striving to follow Christ. I enjoyed high school where I had a great group of christian friends and participated in cross country, choir, science national honors society, and service clubs including Habitat for Humanity. However, I was more than ready to go to college and I am now in my third year of school, studying Communication Disorders with the aim of getting a masters degree in speech-language pathology. I have loved my university experience so far and the opportunities I have had, such as my study abroad in Jerusalem for four months this past semester. I am now currently differed from school and am serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in San Jose, California for 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon, studied the gospel of Jesus Christ and then gone to our Heavenly Father in prayer and asked him if what I had read and studied was true and received an answer. I received an answer by the power of the holy spirit that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's church restored on the earth today. I know that I am child of God and that He loves me. I know that Jesus Christ came to this earth, that He atoned for my and everyone else's sins, sorrows, pains, and afflictions and suffered and died on the cross so that I could repent from my mistakes and be forgiven and that Christ on the third day was resurrected and because of that we will all be resurrected and can have eternal life with Christ and our Heavenly Father. My testimony gives me strength when I go through hard times and gives me hope for the future.

How I live my faith

Currently I live my faith my being a full-time representative of Jesus Christ as a missionary in San Jose, California. I have taken 18 months off from school and "real life" so that I can devote all my time to finding and teaching people who want to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ. In smaller, simpler ways, I live my faith every day by praying each morning and night, reading the word of God in the scriptures each day, and going to church each Sunday to worship.
