Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a student. I'm a sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently studying at Brigham Young University and loving every minute of it. Come September 2013 I will be taking 18 months off from school to serve the Lord in the Philippines on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have the best family in the world and have been privileged to watch all of my siblings get married and start families of their own. I have a soft spot in my heart for animals (especially the ones I can cuddle with). I love being outside and enjoying all of God's beautiful creations, and I often crave new sights, sounds, and experiences. I have a passion for traveling and learning new things about the beautiful world we've been given. Laughing is my favorite pass time. I am always looking for things to smile about and never come up empty handed; life is beautiful.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been privileged to grow up in this church, but even so, I had to be personally converted to the truth that is the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the doctrine of the LDS church contains the fullness of the Lord's gospel as it has been restored upon this earth. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and was sent down to this earth to save us from our sins and make it possible to return to our Heavenly Father. I know that we have a prophet upon the earth today named Thomas S. Monson. and that he is called of God to receive revelation and give direction to God's children. I know that Joseph Smith was also a prophet called of God, and that he was able to restore the gospel upon the earth and translate the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it works in harmony with the Bible to testify of Jesus Christ. I am able to know all of this through constant questioning and prayer. I have received confirmation from the spirit that all of this is indeed true, and through this knowledge, we can know true happiness here on earth.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On September 25th, 2013, I will report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, where I will spend six weeks learning the language of Tagalog, feeling the spirit, and figuring out how to be an affective messenger of the Lord's work. When my six weeks are up I will travel to the Philippines where I will spend the rest of my 18 months sweating, killing spiders, and bringing the light of the gospel to the good people of the Philippines.
