Hi I'm Izael

I grew up in a small community in New Zealand called temple view. I am preparing to serve a mission in October.

About Me

I am the eldest of four. I have a brother and two sisters. My sisters are identical twins and sometimes I can't tell 'who is who' because they love playing tricks on us. I've graduated from high school and while there loved playing sport. In New Zealand a very popular sport is called rugby but I never really played it that much, I enjoy basketball. It must be, other than church things, my favourite thing to do almost anytime and anywhere. We play it a lot as a family and are kept very busy. Other things I enjoy doing is taking my brother and sisters out for dinner, or to the movies, or just hanging out. Especially now that I will be leaving for the next two years for a church mission. I know I will miss them, so I try to treat them as much as I can.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing as a Mormon my whole life I have always thought that everyone lives like us. Daily family prayers and scripture study, family evenings and all these things which are good. But as I grew up and made friends that were not members of the church I felt, even as a child, a difference in how my dad would treat my mum and brothers and sisters, than their parents. As I grew older i soon realized that it was the teachings of Jesus Christ that was the difference in our home.

How I live my faith

I really enjoy playing Basketball and as a result sometimes a tournament may fall on a weekend. And being a Mormon we believe in keeping the sabbath day holy, which means that we refrain from playing sport on Sundays. As a member of a New Zealand representative under 17's basketball team I had to tell them that I couldn't play or train with them on Sundays, and I didn't. It was tough but I had standards that I have had since a child and have lived to them.
