Hi I'm Jessie

I'm a college student, a camp counselor, an artist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey! I love art in general (specifically drawing), a great laugh, disc golf, running, stupid socks and chocolate. Among other things. I grew up in Wisconsin and after joining the church moved to Utah to go to Brigham Young University. I have one younger sister who I LOVE and also drives me CRAZY. We're two years apart and she has also been baptised and goes to Utah State. I love to laugh and usually laugh 'til I cry at myself. I try to have enthusiasm for new things, and I love LANGUAGE and culture. I have studied spanish all through high school and am still taking classes here at BYU. I'm currently studying abroad in Spain for three months through BYU. I have learned to love life as it comes, not just the sunny days.

Why I am a Mormon

This question is great, and I have so much to say. I'm a convert, so I feel I have a special obligation to explain myself. It took a lot of work to be where (and who) I am today. My parents were not okay with me joining the church at first. It took a lot of prayer and honestly, time. My parents eventually came around and decided "there are worse things I can do than join a church"- and so many GREAT things have happened since then. Getting to know and love this church has been a HUGE blessing to me. So much. When I was baptized a little over two years ago I didn't think much of it, but it has changed my life so drastically. Everyone told me it would be the best decision of my life... I thought they were just being cheesy, but my life is so incredibly blessed, I can't help but laugh because they were right. This church brings me so much happiness. It has helped me understand why I am here, and gives me a "bigger picture" of my life. I know hard times come, and they aren't always going to be an easy fix. And that's okay. I know that Heavenly Father is always here to comfort me, inspire me, and lead me to the path that is right. It's the greatest feeling in the world, knowing I am doing right for the Lord by just being me and setting an example. I love this church, I love learning about it through the scriptures, prophets, and through lessons given each Sunday. If you have questions, pray about it. Ask God. I did:)

How I live my faith

The biggest thing that I know I can do for myself and for others, is to be an example. And sometimes being an example just means being a friend:) It is up to us how we choose to influence others, there is a quote I have in my room that I think says this perfectly: "We can pull people up, or pull people down... but either way, we always pull." I think about this a lot, and try to be the best influence I can be. I try to read the scriptures as much as I can and pray every day. But the best thing I know how to be is a friend.
