Hi I'm Cheri

I'm a stay at home mother. I'm a writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of two active little boys, and I chose to quit my job to stay home with them and raise them rather than putting them in day care. I want more children, hopefully a couple of girls. I love to read and write and hope one day to be a published writer. I like to sing, though I don't get too many opportunities to do so right now. I enjoy cooking and cuddling my boys. I'm married to a wonderful man who values me, supports me, and shares many of the same values I do. I also like to play video games, and browse the internet. We recently purchased our first home and have spent a lot of time and money making it livable, but we love having our own home and all the room it gives us. I volunteer a couple days a week at the Jewish Cultural Center as a Russian translator and kitchen helper.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the oldest of 6 children, and was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I it all for granted until my parents divorced my senior year of high school, and then I had to reevaluate my priorities and beliefs. It was a process that took many years. About five years after the divorce, I decided to serve a mission. That decision was the final step to my testimony of the church being restored. I had an experience where I felt the love of my Heavenly Father, and knew that he was happy with me for the decision I had made to serve a mission. Since then, I have had more experiences that simply reaffirmed my faith. I love the Lord and His church, and I know that this is where I belong.

How I live my faith

I teach a class of 5 boys, all 9 to 10 years of age in Primary (our children's Sunday School) every Sunday. They are rambuctious boys, but smart, and I love teaching them about the Savior and all he has done for us. I served a full-time mission in Ukraine before I was married and still use my Russian from time to time as a volunteer translator. I teach my children about the Savior at home, and how to pray. We have Family Home Evening every Monday where we talk about the Gospel with our children. I love attending church activities to get to know my local sisters, and we support our local missionaries by feeding them once a month.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No. The Church wants us to be involved in politics and vote, but the leaders will not endorse any party or person running for office. They will sometimes speak up in matters that address morality or similar issues, but that is the extent of Church involvement. Show more Show less
