Hi I'm Joshua

I was raised in small Tennessee, and I'm currently serving a mission in New York South.

About Me

Hey guys I'm Josh. I am currently 19 and preparing to serve a mission in New York, New York South mission. I recently graduated high school where I ran cross country and played soccer. Soccer is my passion. Also anything outdoors I love to do, Hiking, biking, camping etc. I am also an avid college football and basketball fan. Also anyone who knows me knows that I can easily talk your ear off. I love to meet new people and can basically talk to anyone I come across. I'm also very passionate about the things I do, big or small and I love to do things right the first time.

Why I am a Mormon

Well growing up in the church I just always knew. I knew my Savior and Redeemer. I knew we have a prophet on the earth. I knew Joseph Smith had seen the Savior and God the Father and that he had restored the gospel. However it wasn't till my teenage years that I truly knew this for myself. I went through a rough path in my life from about age 14-17. I went to church I still did everything I knew I was supposed to do. I was just going through the motions. It wasn't till I truly decided to change what I doing and really ask my Heavenly Father for a sure testimony. That's exactly what I got. I had been to other churches with my friends and what not just to socialize , but each time I would go none felt the same way that it did going to The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. The other church had some truth just like all churches do. I knew then that I really did have to full and true gospel of Christ. This has made me never want to turn back to just going through the motions. Now I want to participate in church, I look forward to learning each week. The gospel has made me such a happy person and on numerous occasions I have been asked why I am so happy. I am so grateful for the Atonement. I am grateful for the love He has shown me through my whole life. I know President Thomas S. Monson is a true and living prophet and he leads and guides the church. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible. I love my Savior and I love this gospel.

How I live my faith

So where I live there are not very many members at all. I only went to school with less than 10 members and most of those at any given time were my cousins. So at times living my faith could be a real challenge. The biggest thing that I tried to do and continue to do to help me live my faith was just being an example to those around me. Whether it was avoiding using swear words or living the word of wisdom people always took an interest as to why I was different. This lead to many conversations I was able to have with my friends about the gospel. Another thing I do to help me live my faith is always reading my scriptures at night no matter where I was. My non member friends would always ask me when they would stay the night at my house what I was doing. I was always able to tell them what I was reading about and where I was reading this sparked conversations about religion and i was able to give a few friends copies of the Book of Mormon. Obviously one of the big things I do to live my faith right now is by serving a mission. Everyday i have to make sure i am ready with a testimony of the restored gospel because in New York City you never know who will come and start a conversation with you.
