Hi I'm Craig Mortensen

I live in California and I am 18. I recently received my mission call to the Louisiana, Baton Rouge Mission. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am the oldest child in my family. I was born in Boston but have lived in California most of my life. I love playing volleyball and writing music in my free time. I play trumpet in the marching and concert band at my school. I hope to be able to serve my mission outside the United States.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member because I have seen the strength and change the gospel brings into people's lives. I have had my prayers answered so clearly it's impossible to ignore. Knowing about the Atonement brings me closer to Jesus Christ because I know that whenever I am in physical, emotional, or spiritual pain I can realize that He felt the same thing. I know the gospel can change lives. I know that no matter how many mistakes I have made I can always be forgiven. A year ago I was having a hard time and when I was at EFY my session director got up and said with no warning," I don't know why I am saying this but no matter what you have done, it's not too late." When he said this I felt so strongly that he said that too me. The gospel gives me hope. I have a testimony of the power of music and the change it can have on people's hearts. My favorite song is Keeper of the Flame from my EFY album because I am an example to those around me. I have had my own revelations through the Holy Ghost that have changed my life for the better. I know my Heavenly Father loves me and that I am his son. I know I have a purpose that can be fulfilled if I choose the right. I know there is someone waiting for me to teach the gospel to one day. I know Jesus Christ lives. The Church of Jesus Christ is the only true church on the earth.

How I live my faith

I love to serve others in any way I can. I have tons of fun doing service projects. Holding doors is one of my favorite things to do for people because it allows me to say hi and show a little kindness. When my friends ask why I enjoy it I can only say that it makes me happy. I try and show love to my friends by listening to them when they feel down and being patient with those around me who are having a hard time. I love doing my home teaching because I get to feel the spiritual strength of the members of my ward.
