Hi I'm Mariah

I'm a college student and I'm preparing to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I am a 21 year old college student studying computer engineering. Some of my hobbies include reading, acting, playing volleyball, wood working, taking care of children, interacting with animals, research, playing video games, and watching movies. When I was in high school I was in theatre and marching band. I continued theatre into college and added volleyball to the mix. I've always enjoyed learning and trying new things. I'm not the type of person that is content with staying still all the time; I very much like changing and growing as a person.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had a knowledge of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my whole life, as my parents were members of the church. However, growing up my family rarely went to church and I remember always having a craving for something more. When I was 8 I asked my parents if I could be baptized and we had all of my older siblings baptized in the church as well. Shortly after that though we began to stop going to church once again and fall back into our old habits. I moved to the other side of the state when I was 10 and began attending church once more when I was 12 after I met my best friend and her family. They invited me to church with them and I became active (as we say) in the LDS church once more. Since then I have stayed strong in the church and have enjoyed attending diligently. Having the knowledge of the gospel in my life has given me so much guidance and understanding. I have been truly blessed in my life and God has helped me come back again and again to His church. I have seen His hand in my life and I am so grateful for it.

How I live my faith

I life my faith every single day. My personal relationship with God is prevalent in every aspect of my life and the knowledge I have of His gospel guides my actions day to day. I have held different callings in my church, including youth group leader, Sunday school teacher, and visiting teacher. I've also aided and participated in different activities and worships of my friends's churches. I love to be around people who share my love of God and joy of His gospel. I've recently decided to serve a mission for my church. I will be teaching and serving the people of Honduras for the duration of 18 months. I am very excited to start this new chapter and to be an instrument for the Lord. I have been very blessed in my life to have a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and I can't think of anything better than to help others develop that relationship in their own lives.
