Hi I'm J.R. Blake

I grew up in Arizona. I lived in Utah where I graduated from BYU. I currently live in Bartlesville, OK. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I currently work for a manufacturing company called Schlaumberger that supplies equipment to the oil drilling industry. I enjoy computer video gaming, baking, racquetball, and family activities. Many people who do what I do for fun would be considered reclusive or introverted but because of the many activities with church and family, I'm hardly reclusive. In fact, most of the games that I play are cooperative such that I form a team with friends to win. I like games and activities that promote teamwork, and unity. When I have free time I work on projects that improve my quality of living such as building a website or digging a ditch or putting together solar panels. I studied manufacturing engineering technology at BYU so it doesn't matter what the project is as much as how I go about doing it so that I can be successful accomplishing my goals everytime.

Why I am a Mormon

So I was baptized a member of the church when I was eight years old. I remember it clearly. The feelings that I had on that day were special. I knew that I was doing the right thing. I knew that I could feel the Spirit of God assuring me that this church was his church. Even though I was young my parents didn't pressure me to be baptized. The simply taught me the gospel and asked if I wanted to be baptized. I read the childrens book of mormon stories and listened to stories from the old and new testament. I felt like Jesus Christ was interested in me and that he wanted me to follow his example and be baptized like he had been baptized by John the baptist. I learned about authority and how Joseph Smith recieved the authority to baptize from resurrected John the Baptist and then how that authority had been passed from one priesthood holder to another until my dad recieved that authority. I was reassured by the Holy Ghost that being baptized by my Dad since he had priesthood authority was right. I'm now 34 years old and throughout the years I have read and reread the Book of Mormon many times. I have attended many church meetings and felt the Spirit of God. In the Book of Mormon there is a promise to all those who read it that says, that one should ask God with real intent, a sincere heart, having faith in God, if the Book of Mormon is true and God will manifest it by the power of the Holy Ghost. This has happened to me. Not just once but almost every time I read from the Book of Mormon. This church really is Jesus Christs Church. The Book of Mormon and the Bible are true. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. Thomas S. Monson is our living prophet today. I hope that everyone who wants to know God can find Him. I hope that I can follow Jesus Christs example and return to live with him after this life. I know I'm not perfect. But with his help, I can be made perfect.

How I live my faith

In church I participate as a ward missionary, a single adult representative, and a hometeacher. These callings give me opportunities to interact with many different people. As a ward missionary I greet those who attend church and help them feel welcome. I also aid ward members in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with their friends and family by helping them to fill out their online profile and share their feelings about the gospel of Jesus Christ online so that they can then point friends and family to the website and find interested people to refer to the full time missionaries. Hopefull sharing the gospel will make the lives of many people better and happier than ever.
