Hi I'm Dee Whittier

I'm a veterinarian have spent my career teaching food animal vet med at Virginia Tech. I have a wonderful family!

About Me

My family is what makes my life worthwhile. My wonderful wife and I raised eight exciting children who are now some of our best friends. Now we're having a great time with our grandchildren, but it takes some effort as they are scattered all across the US. We live on a farmette on the outskirts of Blacksburg where we keep cattle in a bit of a business venture and have horses and chickens for fun. We love to travel and I get to use my Spanish language skills with some consulting activities in Latin American countries.

Why I am a Mormon

Of course the tendency is for people to think that I only belong to the Church because I grew up as a Mormon in Utah. Although I am grateful for that background, the time came in my life when I had to decide whether the Church was true or not and whether it warranted my time and effort or not. Through communication with my Heavenly Father, I came to know that Jesus is my Savior and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's Church. What a wonderful blessing it is to know that. It really gives my life meaning.

How I live my faith

It's hard to imagine my life without the Church. It taught me so much of what I am. I have a great social network there. It gives me a great opportunity to serve. For example, I spent 8 years as a scoutmaster in our Church's Troop 142. 50 mile hikes seemed pretty tough, but now my former scouts tell me what a difference these scouting experiences made in their lives.
