Hi I'm Andy

I'm a student. I'm a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a university student studying broadcast journalism. I joined the church on August 18, 2013 and I can honestly say that it is the greatest decision I have ever made.

Why I am a Mormon

In short: YouTube. One night I was feeling down and found a video on YouTube about God's Plan of Salvation. Hearing that there was something before this life, that we are children of a loving Heavenly Father, and that we can return to Him made me think, "There is a point to all this." So I went on mormon.org and talked to two wonderful sister missionaries who convinced me to go to church on Sunday. So I did. I began to meet with the missionaries, went to church, and read the Book of Mormon. I realized that the more I did these three things, the better person I was becoming. Even friends who were thousands of miles away noticed! So one day while I was driving to meet with the sister missionaries, I heard the Spirit say, "Andy, the Book of Mormon promises all these blessings if you are baptized. Do it. Try it out. If the Church is true, you have so much to gain." I was baptized two weeks later on August 18, 2013. Even my best friend who isn't a Mormon flew down for it! Since my baptism, I have had so many blessings and felt so much comfort. I can say without a doubt, this is God's church and have been blessed by it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith through daily prayer, asking Heavenly Father to help me grow in my love for Him and all His creation. Through prayer, I am given the strength to go out into the world and share my faith through how I live my life. I don't see a separation of my faith and my daily life. Instead, they are one and the same where every day I try to put my faith and love of Christ as the guide for how to live my life. I also go to church every Sunday and partake of the sacrament weekly.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a book of ancient scripture written by ancient prophets in the Americas. It was written for us so that we can know of God's love for us. The Book of Mormon is a testament that God lives and that Jesus really is the Son of God and savior of mankind. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Pray! All truth is God's truth, so ask God. Through reading the Book of Mormon, meeting with the missionaries, going to church, and praying, God will answer your prayers. How He will do this will be different for everyone, but when He tells you and gives you your answer, truest me, you'll know! Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Of course not! The prophet Alma tells us that we need to take care of all those who are in need (Alma 34:28). We are called to be of service to all of God's creation with love. When we help others, whether they are members of the Church or not, we are doing it for Christ. Show more Show less
