Hi I'm Amanda Kelly

I grew up in California. I go to BYU, but now I am serving a mission in Korea Seoul South. It's a fun adventure serving the Lord!

About Me

I am a born and raised in Southern California. I am the youngest of 5 children. I have 3 brothers and one sister. I have two loving parents who I love very very much. I was going to Brigham Young University, but deferred because I am currently serving a mission in Korea Seoul South Mission. I played 4 years of volleyball and danced in high school. I was Associated Student Body President my senior year with 3 years experience of being in ASB. I love serving others, hence why I joined ASB and why I am serving a mission. I try my best to be optimistic and make things fun. I am a very outgoing person.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church. Both my parents also grew up members. Starting at a young age, I was taught by my parents, in primary and in sunday school about the stories in the scriptures. The most important thing I learned though was that I am a child of God. As a child you tend to hear that all the time at church, but it wasn't till high school that I never fully grasped that I was a daughter of God. When I did, I knew that the Lord knows me personally. He loves me and He listens to my prayers. I find it hard to believe that my ancestors crossed the plains in the bone chilling cold snow leaving so much of their things behind for a church that wasn't true. For silly book some guy made up. I know Joseph Smith saw God, the father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and he did indeed restore the true gospel onto the Earth again. Trust me, if I didn't know for myself the church was true I would not being going to South Korea leaving my family behind to go and eat strange food I may not like. I advise everyone I know to please read the Book of Mormon. Then kneel in prayer to God,asking Him if it's true. Only then will you find out for yourself :)

How I live my faith

Well like I said before I am currently serving a mission in South Korea. I have a love for service. Growing up my mother has taught me that service can bring joy not only to others you are serving, but to yourself. I love the Lord more than anything! In Matthew 22:37-39, it teaches us that it is the first and great commandment to love the Lord with everything we are and have. To me that means sacrificing our time to serve others. I love how I feel when I make someone else's day. Now the second commandment is to love thy neighbor as thy self. I find it hard letting people serve me sometimes, but that's just because I'd like to be serving them instead. I know I would like someone to help me if I needed it, so that gives me the motivation to do service for others. Even if it's a person I'm struggling getting along with. I have a testimony that when we serve others, whomever they may be, that we grow to love them how the Lord loves them. We start to see them the way He sees them. That's why I serve others and that's why I want to serve a mission. I want to share what I know and believe to be true with others so they can share in the joy that I've been blessed with by the gospel being in my life.
