Hi I'm Michael

I have lived in Maryland my whole life. I enjoy storytelling and writing short stories. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've just finished my first year of college, and will soon be leaving on a 2-year mission for this church. I enjoy learning about philosophy, physics, psychology and anything else that might interest me. I love creating and writing down stories, although I have yet to publish anything. I love visual art of any style, and I have worked at it for years now, but have found I'm better at photography and digital photo editing.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were already members when they had me, so I have grown up and lived my whole life in the LDS church, but I know that it is the true church of Jesus Christ. I don't really know how I know that, or rather, there is no defining point in my life where I was told that the church is true. Rather, having lived in this church my whole life, it has been revealed to me gradually that it is true. I just know it is true; it has been revealed to me so that I cannot deny it, and that is a wonderful thing. And it is not just true for me, but it is true for all of humankind. I am going on a mission for this church because I know this church and the gospel it preaches will make people truly happy; it will comfort them more than they've ever been comforted. I know that because I've experienced it myself. Jesus Christ is a real person, He lived and still lives. I know that we along with Christ are children of God, meaning that Jesus Christ is our brother, meaning that He is passionately interested in every single one of us, in our well-being and happiness. Jesus Christ established this church in order to bless His brothers and sisters, and I know that this church and everything in it is true, because He told me through His spirit over many years and continues to tell me, and I know through the same spirit any of His children can know for themselves, if they sincerely want to know the answer. Maybe it will happen the same as me, or maybe it will be a more sudden feeling of peace, but I know you can get an answer if you want one. This is just what I know and what I want to do, and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I recently submitted my mission paperwork, and have been called to serve as a missionary in Federal Way, Washington state. I will be leaving soon, so the only assignment I have with the church right now is to "home teach" several families in our congregation, meaning a friend and I visit these families at least every month to see how they're doing and if they need any help, and to leave a spiritual message with them.
