Hi I'm Zephan Smith

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. I spent most of my young life in Palm Bay, FL. I am currently serving a mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I moved to Florida at a very young age. Growing up in a place not mostly populated by Latter-Day Saints often made it hard for me to fit it with certain crowds when it seemed like everyone wanted to follow unrighteous paths. Early in my young adult life, I made the decision to stick to my beliefs and follow the commandments of God. I knew that because of that I would be blessed. I found that to be true as I came to know non-members who acknowledged and respected my beliefs. In high school I developed a love for theatre and the drama department. I love performing in front of people on stage, playing different characters, and putting myself out of my comfort zone. After I graduated high school I stayed in my home town to save money for my LDS mission trip. After two and a half (long) years of preparing myself monetarily and spiritually for my mission, in October of 2016 I received a call to serve in the Utah Provo Mission, with a start date in December of 2016.

Why I am a Mormon

As I've stated before, I grew up in an area that wasn't nearly as populated by members of the Church as was areas like Utah or Idaho. I was in the minority; whether it was because of my beliefs, or my standards, people at times thought I was weird, misguided, or just plain stupid. Stupid I was often told, for not wanting to enjoy all that life had to offer. In their eyes, life offered non-stop fun through the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and disobeying the law of chastity. All I saw from those ex

How I live my faith

At my home ward in Palm Bay, Florida, before I left on my mission, I had two callings: Ward Missionary, and Ward Chorister. Ward Missionary is a calling I received that I believe strengthened my testimony tremendously. It is a calling I highly attributed to my current desire to serve a mission for the Church. I met multiple missionary companionship's that, with the help of their hard work and testimony, and faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I was able to realize the need to spread the Gospel to all the world, that every child of God might have the same chance at being able to live with him again. I got a taste of missionary work because of this calling, and I am eternally grateful for it. However, I was not always in the right spiritual mindset for a prospective missionary. That's where my testimony of LDS Hymns comes in. I don't believe we sing hymns just for filler in Sacrament Meeting; I believe we sing hymns because the songs of praise help us feel closer to Jesus Christ and His Gospel. Being called as the Ward Chorister helped me feel a greater need to know the hymns that we sing in Sacrament Meeting, and in the Church in general. This calling that brought me closer to the LDS Hymns, helped me feel closer to God's love. This plus the nearly constant companionship of the Holy Ghost that accompany the hymns, provided me with what i believe was the support I needed to serve a mission.
