Hi I'm Spencer

I served an LDS mission in Guatemala. I work with troubled teens and love to work construction. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a single student currently going to college. I'm studying Bioinformatics and love the sciences but my real passion is in learning languages. I currently speak Spanish and Portuguese and have started learning mandarin. I love everything about the outdoors. I love hiking, biking, running, rock climbing, and snow boarding. I work at a residential treatment center for teenage boys struggling with severe depression, anxiety, and substance abuse issues. In my spare time, I love working construction and started my own drywall company a year ago. I've been able to work on 13 different homes and it's been awesome! I've also enjoyed other jobs as a teaching assistant for a biology class, a research assistant studying Alzheimer's Disease, and a custodian at my University.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but my testimony of it has grown as I have lived the principles I've been taught since I was a little kid. I know that God hears and answers prayers. He loves each of us and knows us personally. I've felt that love as I've read the scriptures, served others, prayed, and kept His commandments. I love that there are prophets and apostles today, just like there were in ancient times. I know they are called of God to help us resist temptation, to overcome trials, and to learn what God would have us do to be happy. Families are the most important part of God's plan for us. We are part of His forever family and He wants us to be able to live with our loved ones forever as well. That is made possible because Jesus Christ was willing to be our Savior. He came to earth and suffered for all our sins and died on the cross for each of us. I know that he was resurrected and that he lives. As we repent and come nearer to him, we are able to overcome sin just like he overcame death. We are able to feel forgiveness, love, peace, and happiness, no matter what our circumstances.

How I live my faith

In my ward I'm assigned to make visits to 6 people each month. I share my feelings about Jesus Christ with them and invite them to draw nearer to Him. I also serve as the leader of the men in my ward and help oversee the teaching, activities, and responsibilities that are delegated to each of them.
