Hi I'm James Canlas

I am from the Philippines and proud to be a Filipino! I am currently in BYU Idaho, one of the best schools and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as Mormons. I know that this church is true for I have found the answer after a long time of searching. As said in James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upraideth not and it shall be given him." I believe that the heavens are still open for revelation from God. That comes through the power of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost can work through our thoughts and through our feelings. Miracles and God showing himself to the prophets of old and people in those generation can and will still happen, but God have different ways to manifest himself. It can be as simply as answering our prayers, lifting our day, and strengthening us when we are weak. I can testify that I can tell, when there is a power beyond my own. This realization does not come too quickly. I grew up in our church but it took some time to fully appreciate and fully understand what God wants me to know. Now I know, that God and Jesus Christ lives and loves. They don't want us to die for them, for Jesus Christ already did the sacrifice for us. Now what They want is for us to live fully for them by keeping the commandments, not expecting perfection but expecting that we may do our best. I know that whenever we fall short, Jesus Christ would lift us up. I know that they want us to have eternal life. I know that we can live with God again. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this is Christ's restored church. It is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have prayed about it, and know for a surety that this is true. I invite you to learn more about our church through lds.org or mormon.org. We have missionaries who will be more than happy to teach you and to serve you wherever you may be. I know that this church is true and that we have a living prophet. Heavens are still open, and we can receive our personal revelations through prayers. God works in different ways and each of us have a unique relationship with Him. Open your hearts to God and know that He is there for you. Whatever religion we may all have, there is one thing in common: God loves us all. No matter what your sins are, your weaknesses are, your strengths and limitations are, God loves us unconditionally. We may not comprehend this with our own natural eyes or the way the world sees it, but remember that He is there, waiting every single day to hear you converse with Him. View God as your father, as your friend, as your confidant, for when I see Him as this, I have more hope for a better world and courage to face the future.

How I live my faith

I am not perfect, the people in our church is not perfect. But I know that our church is perfect for Jesus Christ is our leader, God is with us. We may not fully understand this, but one day we will come to this knowledge. We have missionaries who are willing to share and millions of our members can testify with what I said. We do have many different rules and regulations in our church, but it is commanded and inspired of God. Sometimes, people may think they are restrictions, but in the long run, you will know that it's all for you. I am grateful for knowing these things for blessings came to my family. We, as members of the church still experience trials, succumb to temptation, but we believe that Jesus Christ loves us and believes in our potential. All of us are important to God's eyes. I know it and I know that God knew it. Don't ever think that just because your not a member of our church, that we are higher than you, better than you or that we deserve God's love better than you do. If there is one thing you can take away from our church, believe that God loves you. I have felt that, and we are all important because we are all God's children. We are all brothers and sisters. Everyone of us live together in the very beginning. We may be different in religion, perspective, circumstances, but we are all in a same journey. We are all in this earth to learn, to live, and to go back to our Heavenly Father's presence. We can do that as we live the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us all help each other, to share faith-promoting experiences, lift and build each other. For at the end of the day, love is what binds us as a big family.
