Hi I'm Landon

I grew up in Texas, love music & math, & will be serving a mission for the LDS church in Piracicaba, Brazil until September 2018.

About Me

I have two extremely hard-working parents that love me and my siblings and do their best for us. I am a very quiet person most of the time, and I try to take time organizing my thoughts before saying anything too loudly. I really enjoy board games, movies, books, playing piano, and listening to music. I love to have a good laugh with friends and spend time with people that are important to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church, but I didn't know for myself the many blessings that come from following the gospel until I was about 13. I was depressed because I felt awkward and ostracized from everyone at school. I didn't have any friends, and I began to question if I mattered because I convinced myself that nobody around me cared about me. Then I started studying the scriptures and practicing selflessness and my emotional state improved. I prayed and received a witness that I mattered to God. It didn't come all at once, but by the time 8th Grade rolled around, I knew for a fact that everyone, including me, is a child of God and He loves us. I adamantly believe that we are all children of God. We must have a purpose for being here on Earth and it is to learn to become like Him. Having the gospel and learning the teachings of the church has brought me hope. It has brought me blessings of happiness, self-worth, and spiritual and emotional peace. I wouldn't trade my belief for anything else. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Every day, I say a morning prayer before reading from my scriptures. I have a rule for myself that I am not allowed to access the Internet until I have studied a chapter from the scriptures. Before bed, I say another prayer. Every Sunday, I attend church in order to partake of the sacrament and renew my covenants with God. I make pretty strict personal choices about the kind of media I read, watch, or listen to. I don't listen to any music that uses cuss words or takes the name of God in vain. I avoid video games and movies with more than a few cuss words or excessive violence and gore or any sexual content. Fortunately, there are still plenty of places to find clean, funny, and awesome entertainment. Currently, I am preparing to serve a two-year proselyting mission for the LDS Church, so some of my time goes towards that. And of course, soon I will be spending all my time serving as a missionary where I will be working every day to spread the gospel and invite all to come unto Christ.
