Hi I'm Samantha

I am a student at Brigham Young University. I love music and learning about the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the fourth youngest/fifth oldest in a family of eight kids. I am currently a student majoring in International Relations at Brigham Young University. I am very interested in learning about the world I live in and the people I share it with. I especially love learning other languages; for now, French is the only language I speak other than English, but I will soon be learning Finnish as I prepare to serve a mission for the Church in the beautiful Finland Helsinki Mission. After college, I hope to go to graduate school and eventually find a job working for a non-profit international aid organization. In my spare time, you will find me reading, cooking, singing, or enjoying the company of family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me true and lasting happiness. In a world where many seem lost and purposeless, the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me direction and guidance. It is the greatest source of truth available to us. The gospel teaches me that God is my Heavenly Father, who wants nothing more than for each of His children to return to him, and that Christ is His Son, who gave us the all-important gift of repentance that makes that possible. It teaches me that families can be together forever and that everyone will eventually have the opportunity to hear and accept the gospel, whether in this life or the next. It teaches me that God has not abandoned us but has given us modern prophets who receive revelation from Him directly for all of us, but also that each of us can pray to Heavenly Father and receive revelation for ourselves. The gospel teaches me how to live my life righteously, but it is up to me whether or not I will do those things. Making the choice to live the gospel of Jesus Christ is making the choice to be happy!

How I live my faith

The most significant way I live my faith is through my choice to serve a mission. But I am not waiting until I get to Finland to share the gospel with others! The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me so much peace and happiness, and I want everyone to feel that. I enjoy serving others whenever I have the opportunity, such as in the aftermath of the terrible tornadoes that recently struck my home state of Oklahoma. I also strive daily to strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ through scripture study, prayer, and wholesome activities and entertainment. In all I do, I try to live as Christ lived.
