Hi I'm Tyler

I like music, longboarding and swimming. I'm a convert and a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Wyoming so naturally I love doing anything outdoors. I love music of all kinds: listening to it, playing it, or singing it, I love it all! I am attending college at BYU in Utah where I enjoy reading and learning about all kinds of new things which will hopefully help me find something to do with the rest of my life before I graduate. I have been a member of the Church for about a year and I am currently serving a 2 year mission in Fort Worth Texas. Being a missionary, I spend all day every day spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping people come closer to him through the Book of Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Around my junior year of high school I hadn’t been going to any church for a few years and I was in a position where I knew I believed in something but I wasn’t quite sure exactly where my beliefs stood. I began the search on my own and found a lot of comparison charts of beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints vs. other Christian churches on certain subjects. I started reading and found that a lot of the beliefs of the Mormons made a lot more sense to me than these other churches I had gone to as a kid. Now that I knew I agreed with the beliefs of the LDS Church, I decided to take the challenge presented by the prophet Moroni to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if the things I read were true. The first time I read the Book of Mormon I couldn’t remember much of all the stories I had read about in its pages, but I prayed to my Heavenly Father anyway to know if the things I had read were true and the Holy Ghost testified to me that indeed they were. “and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.” I testify of the truth of these words, and of the Book of Mormon as a whole. Christ’s Church has been restored on the Earth today and I am so grateful to be a member of it. This gospel has changed my life and it can change yours too, you just have to let it.

How I live my faith

Currently I keep my faith by serving as a full time missionary. Missionary life is full of challenges but it is extremely rewarding to be able to share something you love with others and watch it change their lives. The greatest way we can live our faith is by following the example of Jesus Christ and magnifying His defining attributes in aspects of our daily lives and I constantly strive to better myself by doing so.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Young men and women are encouraged to serve a mission and spread the gospel, but it is completely optional. Missionaries serve for 18 months to 2 years and you are kidding yourself if you think a bunch of teenage kids would sacrifice that much of their time to share a message with people if they didn't know with all their heart that it was true. Every missionary I know chose to serve because they want to come closer to Christ and share the happiness they have received from having the fullness of the gospel. I am personally here because I have a testimony of the truthfulness of this Church and the Book of Mormon and I know what it is like to live without it. This gospel brings true happiness and that is something I want to share with everyone willing to listen. Show more Show less
