Hi I'm Amie George

I grew up in St. Louis, graduated high school in Shanghai, China & now I'm in Taiwan serving the Lord for 18 months. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and lived there till I was 11. I then moved to Rogers, Arkansas until I was 14. After that my parents and I moved to Shanghai, China (due to my Dad's job). I graduated high school there and then moved to Idaho Falls. In January of 2012 I started college at Brigham Young University - Idaho and was there until July of 2013. I am now currently in Taiwan serving the Lord for 18 months as His missionary. If I could call one place my home, it would be Shanghai, and actually all of Asia in general. My major at college is English Education, with a minor in Chinese Education. I would eventually love to be an international High School teacher. I grew up dancing and swimming, so I love those a ton. I also LOVE skiing, playing soccer, and running. I play the viola and the piano and love music all around. I listen to all genres of music all the time. I've always loved art (drawing and painting) but I decided to major in English Education because I've always loved English the most (books and writing) and I absolutely love teaching. I'm currently on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and am serving in the Taiwan, Taipei Mission. I left for my mission August 7, 2013 and am so excited to be here. I love speaking Chinese, and I love getting to know people and helping them, and I love the Lord, so this is the perfect place for me to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know I'm happier with the Church than I am without it. I'm happier when I live Christ's teachings than when I don't. I've had periods of my life where I wasn't as strong in the gospel and I can clearly see the difference in my happiness level now versus back then. I know this church is true because I can feel it everyday, and this gospel is one of joy and happiness. I get that more when I'm involved in the church than any other time. I have such a testimony of this church, of God and Jesus Christ, and of Joseph Smith. I know God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith so he could restore this gospel, and I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have felt it's impact on my life in more ways than I could even try to count. I know Heavenly Father has a specific, amazing plan for every single one of us, and both Him and His Son, Jesus Christ, want us to be happy and partake of this plan. I'm a Mormon because I believe it.

How I live my faith

Obviously, a large part of how I live my faith right now in my life, is serving as a missionary in Taiwan. Basically, all I'm doing all day every day is talking to everyone about Christ and His Gospel, and I really couldn't be happier doing it. As for strengthening my own faith while as a missionary, I do all the same things every one else does...read scriptures, pray (a lot), go to church and keep the commandments. I'm a firm believer, that as small and simple those things seem, they really can do wonders for your life and testimony. Before my mission, I still did those simple things such as reading the Book of Mormon and praying every day. I also attended Brigham Young University - Idaho, which is a religion based school, and that played a big part of how I lived my faith. The friends I met there, the activities, the school classes, all strengthened my testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ, and I am so grateful for that. Faith is such an interesting thing, the more you live it (and really live it every day), the more you have of it. The more you act on your faith, the more power and stronger testimony you will have. Living your faith really is an every day thing, that everyone does differently.
