Hi I'm J. Paul King

I'm a convert and have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 14 years.

About Me

I am a power lifter with hopes of breaking records in my age and weight class. I have been married for 25 years and have 2 daughters and a granddaughter. I am currently enrolled in an online degree program through BYU-Idaho for Business Management. I am employed by a large telecommunications company as a Customer Care analyst. I hiking and the outdoors and love sports. I am a big fan of music. Among my interest in music, I like southern gospel, progressive rock, classic rock, and the Mormon Tabernacle choir too. Some of my favorite bands or groups are Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Pink Floyd, Genesis, The Gaither Vocal band, The Collingsworth family, The Heritage Singers and David Phelps.

Why I am a Mormon

Being an athlete I appreciate the values that our church teaches about clean living. I avoid things that cause addiction such as alcohol, tobacco, habit forming drugs (legal or non-legal), gambling, and coffee and tea. I also appreciate how we are taught to be prepared by having food storage and eliminating debt except for a mortgage and student loans. More importantly, the spirit I feel and the gift of the Holy Ghost that members receive is wonderful and i never want to be without it. The people of my church believe in serving others. When we serve others, we serve God. I love being able to give blessings and heal the sick. I love how much knowledge and wisdom that I receive from being a member of this church and teaching others how to be as happy as I am. I love that the Church is all about family. Eternal families.

How I live my faith

My calling in church is as an Executive Secretary. I work with the head of our church (Bishop) setting up appointments and working with the different groups in the church. I also spend time working with our Missionaries by visiting people who want to know more about our church and those who are receiving lessons. I also hold Bible study with our missionaries to assist them with gaining much needed knowledge of the Bible and other faiths.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?
