Hi I'm Spencer Petersen

I am a drummer, a volleyball enthusiast, I sing, love the outdoors , I am serving a mission in New England. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My three biggest loves in this world are Family, Music, and Volleyball. I am a son of two loving parents who support me in all that I do. I am about to serve a mission in Brazil. After I will be going to Brigham Young University. I grew up being very shy, but when I hit high school, I decided to change that and I did. By my senior year I was involved in the student government, a drum major in the band, I had a lead in the musical for my second year in a row, and I was voted most changed, so my goal to loose my shy shell was complete. I love playing, listening, or singing music. Singing is a big part of my family, we sing a lot and we've been blessed that none of us our tone deaf. I have one older brother who is an amazing example to me of strength and determination. Then I have a younger sister and a younger brother who have helped me learn patience at the same time as how to be protective. I've always loved playing sports even though I am really uncoordinated. I was never really good, until I found my sport, volleyball. There are still so many people so much better than me, but that just leaves room for hard work and improvement.

Why I am a Mormon

At first I would have said I am a Mormon because I was lucky to be born into this church. However, I'm a Mormon because I know that this church is the true church of Jesus Christ. I learned of the love that Jesus Christ has for me and have seen how many blessings he has given to me and my family and I cannot deny that He is my Savior. I am a Mormon because I want to share this message of love and invite others to come unto Christ. I am a Mormon, because even though I was born into the church, I was converted unto the Lord. I am proud to call myself a Mormon because I know how much was sacrificed that this Gospel could be restored.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every time I make a decision, whether I help a person who just tripped or laugh like all the teenagers around me. Whether I go a see a movie that my friends are all talking about or stay home with my family. I live my faith the best that I can by being the best that I can and setting an example for others of who I am and what being a Mormon is all about. I was a youth leader for my weekly youth group, helping to conduct, plan, and perform activities for 40 or more youth. I am active in community, I help to keep my local cemetery looking clean and well kept. I always strive to share Christs love with others, even when I am alone in the decisions that I make. More importantly, I am living my faith by serving a mission for two years in Brazil, Manaus. I will be able to share the message of Christ's love for us and help others know how they can come closer to Him.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Spencer Petersen
Joseph Smith was the key to the restoration of the Gospel to the Earth. In 1820 there was much dispute over which chruch was true, while many may have had a fraction of the truth, none were completerly true or had God's authority. Joseph read the scriptrue James 1:5 and decided to pray to God to find out for himself which chruch was true. In response to his prayer he saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and they told him that no church was true at the time. Joseph was then called as a Prophet and over time Christ's church, and the priesthood authority to act in God's name was restored through him. Show more Show less
