Hi I'm Yazmin (Jazzy)

I'm a student. I'm a musician. I'm a Mormon :]

About Me

I love music! I listen to a lot of rock, "old" music, and some pop. I play violin, piano, and the guitar (somewhat) as well as sing. I am in college and was in the IB program in high school. I love anything art related, whether it be visual or preforming. I believe in expanding your horizons. Had it not been for that, I would never have known that my grandmother's artistic talents carried on in me. I love learning, especially about other places and cultures and languages. I currently am fluent in English, Spanish, and French, but I understand Italian and Portuguese very well. I'd like to be fluent in at least 7 languages by the time I die. If it hadn't been for the gospel, I know that I would not be anything like I am now. I'm a very friendly person and try to be welcoming to everyone I meet. I love having friends of all walks of life as I know that I have much to learn from many people. My greatest dreams in life are to become a High School Orchestra Director and a wonderful wife and mother.

Why I am a Mormon

I am the first generation in my family to be born in the church. I love this gospel with all my heart, and while I made mistakes and continue to do so, I know that through Christ's sacrifice, I can repent and continue to improve. I first began to gain my own testimony through music. I couldn't go to sleep one night, and so I grabbed a hymnal and began to sing. The spirit spoke straight to my heart and I knew then that this was the true church. Then when I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover, My testimony of God's love grew even more. When I prayed to ask if the Book of Mormon was true, in my heart I already knew it was and for me it was a confirmation of what I had already known. The gospel of Christ has been the biggest gift in my life. It has helped me put everything in my life into perspective, especially the things that I don't have control over. Being a Mormon has helped me become a better person and a more humble person. I see the love my Heavenly Father and Christ have towards me and I want to share it with the world. I've seen the difference the gospel of Christ makes in people's lives, and it's something everyone deserves to have. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that this is the right place and the true gospel.

How I live my faith

When I was 13, I went through a period when I was not a good example of my beliefs. I rationalized what I did, and I knew it was wrong. I can't pinpoint exactly when I knew I had to change, but little by little I put my faith in the Lord and with his help I was able to overcome both of these challenges. I try to be an example of my beliefs by loving people and trying to be Christ like. I try to help people when I can, and I am always looking for ways to brighten others' days. I love to smile and share the love I know Heavenly Father has with others. I feel like my role in life is to comfort, when people are in need of comfort or stand with them, when they feel like they're standing alone. I try to always make sure that I practice what I preach. And over all, I know that we're all imperfect, especially me and so I try to always remember that and keep in mind that our imperfections are what can bring us closer to God.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Yazmin (Jazzy)
Everyone deserves the opportunity to accept Christ. Because those that have passed onto the other side cannot be baptized for themselves as they have no body, we are baptized in their name. However, just because we're baptized for them, doesn't mean that they are automatically a member. We believe that they still can choose whether or not they accept the gospel, so if they do, they won't be "stuck" because they can't personally be baptized. Show more Show less
