Hi I'm Jacen Christensen

I doubt. I struggle. I persevere. I believe. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent graduate of High School, and have been called to serve a mission in Japan. I enjoy writing poetry, playing piano, camping, reading, and spending time with family and friends. In High School I played sports, took hard classes, and participated in student council. I love my God, my gospel, my family, friends, dog, challenges, dad, and of course my momma.

Why I am a Mormon

God is out there. He exists. Christ is our Savior. Some may think it's hard to believe with only feelings as confirmation, but in response I wonder how it's possible to be happy without the gospel. I believe the gospel provides an answer to every question life brings. Even if sometimes that answer is simply trust in God's plan. I am a Mormon because there is no other option. This is the true church. This is the only church that contains the entirety of the gospel. Although there are times I doubt, I recognize the fact that I don't know all the answers. Sometimes faith requires obedience in difficult times. I doubt because I'm human. I struggle because I'm weak. I persevere because choose to. I believe because God believes in me. I'm a Mormon because it's true.

How I live my faith

I live my gospel every day by reading my scriptures and offering prayers of gratitude. I enjoy going to the temple because of the peace I feel there. Mostly I try to live my gospel by keeping myself worthy so I can more effectively serve others. Missionary work requires absolute obedience, so I try to live that principle every day.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Jacen Christensen
We obey the Word of Wisdom for three different reasons. We obey because we fear punishment, we hope for a reward, or more importantly out of love. Just like we are motivated as children when it comes to the cookie jar, we are asked to refrain from eating. We obey mom because we either don't want to be grounded, hope she'll give us that cookie later, or because we love mom and she asks us not to. This is the same with the Word of Wisdom. We don't ingest these things because we don't want the physical consequences. We also abstain because we hope God will bless us. But most importantly, we follow God's teachings simply because we love him. Show more Show less
