Hi I'm Ashley

I'm from Twin Falls, Idaho, but my Mom recently moved to Washington. I am serving a mission in Fort Worth, Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Twin Falls, Idaho. My dad used to be in the military, so I have moved to many different places, including England, Hawaii, Texas, California, and Idaho. I have one younger sister. I love her so much! My parents are divorced, but I love them both so much. My Dad is still in Idaho, but my mom recently moved to Washington, so that's where I will go home to when I get home from my mission. I love anything outdoors. Hiking, rafting, horse-back riding, you name it! I love hanging out with people, and I love making new friends. I worked at IHOP before I came on my mission, and I loved it! Pancakes all of the time! I was also going to Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho. I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (mormon church) in the Fort Worth, Texas area. I will be serving the Lord on my mission for a period of 18 months. I am loving every minute of it! I know that this is where my Heavenly Father wants me to be, and I know this Church is Christ's church restored to the Earth again.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a Mormon because I know this church is Christ's church restored back on the earth again. I don't know where I would be if I didn't have the gospel in my life. Through my life, I have been able to stay close with my Heavenly Father, and know that I am never alone. I know that in the hardest times of my life, if I just look to Heavenly Father and ask Him for guidance, I will receive it. I have been a member all of my life, and I know for myself this is The church of God. I know there is a prophet on the earth today teaching us what we need in order to have the best life and to be able to return and live with our father in heaven again. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon through Jesus Christ and that he restored the gospel on this earth today. I know that Jesus Christ died for us so we can live with Him again. I know Jesus atoned for our sins so that He can feel and know what we are going through in times of heartache. I know that through prayer and true scripture study we can receive answers that will help us through anything. I know families can be together forever if we follow the commandments and do what the prophets have asked us to do. I know there is a life after this, and I know I always need to strive to get to the highest degree of Glory in Heaven (1 Corinthians 15:40-42). I know I chose to come to the earth to be tested and to prove to my Heavenly Father that I love Him and that I want to live with Him for all of eternity!

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in the Texas Fort Worth mission. I love meeting new people and spreading God's truth to everyone I meet. I love being a Mormon, and I love helping people feel the love our Savior, Jesus Christ, has for each and every one of us. I also live my faith by going to church every Sunday and following all of the commandments God has given me to the best of my ability. I know that nobody is perfect, and I know that I make mistakes, but, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I can work on my weaknesses and fix my mistakes that I have made.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Women don't hold the priesthood because that is the way the Lord wants it to be. The women are here to support their husbands in their calling in the priesthood. We as women are joined together in an organization called the Relief Society. Our job in this group is to help those who are in need. The men hold the priesthood, but the women stand next to them to help support as a co-equal. Show more Show less

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

A Restoration of the Gospel was needed because the fullness of the Church was no longer on the earth. After Jesus Christ left the earth, his apostles still remained to teach the fullness of the gospel. Many people were persecuting them and once they died, there were still many great people, but they only had bits and pieces of the full gospel. Nobody on the earth had everything because it was lost in the generations. In order for God's plan to work, there had to be a time on the earth that there was not a true gospel. Once that happened, there had to be what we call a restoration of the fullness of Christ's church. Through Joseph Smith, the gospel has been restored and we have a living prophet on the earth today. In the Holy Bible, Peter told of a "restitution of all things" and we believe The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restoration of the fullness of the gospel. The priesthood has been restored and His church is reorganized. Yes, we have always had the Bible, but now we have even more witnesses of the Lord, Jesus Christ, through the Book of Mormon.
