Hi I'm Emma

I'm a California girl studying English. I'm the oldest of five crazy siblings who are also my best friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in California as the oldest of five kids. My school days were filled with band concerts, studying for AP tests, and spending a lot of time with my family! Now I'm a college student studying English with hopes to be an editor one day--but my biggest dream is to someday marry Mr. Right and be a mom! I'm crafty and love DIY projects, both for the money they save and the sense of accomplishment I get from finishing them! Reading is my passion--there's nothing quite like getting lost in a book :) In August of 2017 I'll begin serving a full-time mission for the Church in New Jersey speaking Spanish!

Why I am a Mormon

Because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holds the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and following Christ's teachings is the happiest way to live! A lot of people think that Mormons spend our lives just living based on a "can and can'ts" list, but that's not it at all! I live the way I do and make the choices I make because I have a personal witness that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and thus I want to follow Him--and that means being a member of His Church! I've personally prayed to know if the Book of Mormon is true and if prophets are on the earth just like they were in Biblical times and the peace and confirmation of the Spirit of God that I have felt confirms to me that the answer to both those questions is a resounding "YES!"

How I live my faith

In my church, I teach the little 5-year-olds about the Gospel of Jesus Christ every Sunday. They are a handful and sometimes it's really tough but they are such sweet spirits! Beyond that though, I live my faith in every part of my everyday life! From the way I dress to the way I talk, I try to live in a way that Jesus Christ would approve of. I happily answer people who have questions about my faith and recognize that there are good people everywhere! Following Christ and His teachings means you love everyone and you treat everyone as the child of God that they are!

What is a ward/stake/branch?

A ward (or branch) is simply a congregation, and a stake is a group of congregations. All wards, branches, and stakes are arranged geographically and all Church positions are run by volunteers, both men and women. Because the doctrine and teaching material of the Church of Jesus Christ is the same worldwide, all members of the church study the same lessons no matter where you are! Wards are communities where friendships are created, where we serve one anther, love one another, and and taught the gospel. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. Joseph Smith is not the being we worship--we worship our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. We respect and reverence the Prophet Joseph Smith and the personal sacrifices he made--even his very life--to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ and its priesthood to the earth. We honor him and his life in the same way you honor a great leader--for indeed, Joseph allowed himself to be a great leader through the guidance of the Lord. Show more Show less
