Hi I'm Hollye

Hi! I am Mormon, I live it and I love it! From Idaho, living in California. I welcome your questions!

About Me

Hi! I am a single Mom with four kids and six grandkids, now an empty-nester! I used to do medical technology (lab tech) and medical transcription for a living. I am now retired. I have been a member of the church all my life, blessed in the Church, baptized at 8 and raised by a wonderful mother (member) and father (non-member until he turned 80!) in the LDS Church, with two older sisters and one younger brother. I love music. I sing it, write it and play it on piano. I also play guitar, but am out of practice. I love photography, movies, scenic walks and travelling when I can afford it! I have kept a journal since age 20. I LOVE PEOPLE! I got a Bachelor's Degree at Idaho State University in 1977 in microbiology. I am healthy for my age (b. 1953) and love life. I would welcome your questions and comments about how the gospel has made my life better and can do the same for you!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this Church, because I know it's true! Yes, I was raised in it. But a time comes when even young baptized members need to seek their own conversion. Mine came when I was 12, when I first began to read the Book of Mormon. It was hard getting through at first, but I persisted. By the time I reached the end, the first reading, I had already felt the Spirit of this wonderful "second testament of Jesus Christ". But I prayed and sought my own testimony. And I did feel a warm, wonderful light, peace, love and joy come over me, the Holy Ghost testifying that it was true! Ever since then, I have been an avid scripture reader and studier, even reading apocryphal writings to see what good I can find in them, for I believe true knowledge can be found in many places. I was baptized at 8, but through the years, my church attendance, prayer and scripture study have convinced me that no other church on earth can offer as much as this one I belong to. It completely fits the organization Christ gave in the New Testament like no other church does. All the things I learned growing up in the children's organization and young women's organization, I found in the scriptures. Many years of study and prayer, and practical putting into practice what I have learned in how to try and be more Christ-like, have continued to witness to me over and over, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's true church and kingdom on earth, and that ALL his children deserve to have it, if they will only allow themselves sincere investigation without listening to those who would twist or distort or discredit our message. I attended four years of semninary and four years of Institute, I am well versed in the four standard works and in our Church's history. More than this, I have written music about the Restoration, and felt the Spirit by personal revelation. The Lord loves each of us and desires to bless and guide our lives. Keeping the commandments brings peace.

How I live my faith

I have served in many callings in our Church. I have played piano, been a chorister, a choir director, a roadshow director, a teacher in our children's organization, sunday school, our women's organization and and gospel doctrine classes. I served in four women's presidencies as a counselor and in many other ways, working with children, youth and adults. I have headed activities committees and singles groups. I have performed music of myself and others in the Church activities and meetings. The fellowship we feel as we serve the Lord and each other together is something I have never found in any other organization on earth. I have served, not for pay, but because I love the Lord and wish to contribute to building his kingdom on earth. There is a special kinship of recognizing that we are all children of God and literally brothers and sisters in spirit if not in body.
