Hi I'm Emily

I'm from Virginia. I am a teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in an LDS home. My Mom's family are converts and joined the church when she was a little girl.My Dad's Mom had ancestors cross the plains with the early Mormon Pioneers and my Dad's Dad joined the church through Boy Scouts. I have three brothers who always picked on me, but I knew it was because they loved me. We were close growing up and we loved to play sports together. My brothers taught me everything I know about playing basketball. I attended SVU and BYU-I where I got my teaching degree. I love being a teacher and working with young children.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Savior Jesus Christ very much and know that he loves me. He restored His church to the Earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I belong to this church because it helps me be a better person and more like me Savior every day. This church has taught me to pray and recognize how God talks to me through the Holy Ghost. This church has also taught me how to read and apply the scriptures to my life. This church has taught me God's plan for all of his children which helps give my life purpose. I belong to this church because I know it to be the true church of God. I would invite all to pray and ask God if this is His church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by inviting friends to Young Single Adult activities. I also love to play basketball and ask friends to come play. I work with the youth during the summers doing EFY and Zion's Camp. I love to help the youth recognize the spirit and increase their testimonies in Jesus Christ. I also share the gospel at school by inviting co-workers to come to ward activities or special events. One of my favorite ways to share the gospel is through music. I have sung in several concerts about Jesus Christ and ask my co-workers and friends to come to the performances.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a young man seeking truth. He wanted to know which of all the churches on the Earth was the most correct church so he could join them. He studied the Bible, specifically James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given them." After studying this scripture, Joseph Smith knew he had to ask God in prayer which church was the most correct. Joseph Smith prayed to Heavenly Father and received an answer. In Joseph's own words he said, " I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me...When the light rested upon me I saw two personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other - This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" Joseph Smith saw God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ. They told him non of the churches on the earth were correct and that he was to restore the church Jesus Christ had organized anciently with the 12 apostles. I know Joseph Smith saw God and Jesus Christ. God has always revealed himself to His prophets, i.e. Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, and Moses. These men were called by God anciently to organize His church just as Joseph Smith was called in the 1800's. We are all invited to ask God if this is His true church. Through prayer we too can receive this answer. Show more Show less
