Hi I'm Richard

I became a Mormon at the age of 36 years old.

About Me

After graduating from college I became a Naval Aviator flying Navy jets from an aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Tonkin off Viet Nam. My accounting degree lead me to work as an accountant with the government. I am now retired after working 32 years with the government. My hobbies are mountain biking, hiking, camping, traveling, and volunteering at a doctors free clinic.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Christian, but was uncertain about the character of God. Was he a spirit or was he a man like me? Nor did I know if life started here on earth, or before. And, I was concerned if there was life after death. I was introduced to the Mormon Church by a co-worker at the age of 36, and soon all of my questions were answered. I also found out that there was a purpose for this life, that it is to obey the commandments so as to be happy, and to prepare to meet God by becoming more like Jesus Christ his Son. Becoming a member of the Church has given me direction in my life and a happiness that I had never known before.

How I live my faith

I am basically an introvert, but as a convert to the Church, I have been given opportunities to meet and fellowship with hundreds of new friends and to reach out and serve others in my Church unit. And to have a desire to serve in my community at the local doctors free clinic to assist those without medical insurance to receive quality health care from doctors and other professionals.
