Hi I'm Katelyn

I love being with family and friends. I love to laugh. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in a military family, which required a lot of moving around. Since we needed to relocate so many times, our family became our support group. We were each other's best friends. As the youngest of six girls, I loved spending time with my older sisters every chance I got. Fortunately, my parents liked to take road trips so I got to spend plenty of time with my sisters. These road trips always included listening and singing along to oldies music. We all had no shame when it came to singing at the top of our lungs in the back of the family van. We were our dad's backup singers. Our family has always remained close to one another and they are still my biggest support group. I'm now a full time college student. Moving around as a kid and learning about different cultures influenced my choice to major in International Relations. I love to study cultures and to see that there is more than one right way of living. I also enjoy understanding how governments interact with one another and understanding foreign policy. But whatever the subject may be, I love learning new things.

Why I am a Mormon

While growing up, it was easy to go to church and the activities because that was where my parents were. But now that I am an adult and living on my own, I had to make a decision if I wanted to keep doing what my parents taught me to do. They were always a great example to me. I learned from them the importance of being the best person you can be and to try and be an influence for good in this world. I saw how happy this gospel made them and I wanted to have that same happiness. I am a Mormon because it is what gives me the most joy in this life. It gives me a greater understanding of the three biggest questions in life: where did I come from, why am I here, and where am I going? I also know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me and is involved in the details of my life. Because of this knowledge that I have, I feel an obligation to be a better person and to help others on their life journey. Whether it's just by a smile or being a friend, every little bit helps. We are all on this life journey and we need to be one another's support group.

How I live my faith

While our family moved around, our church group was another great support group. Our family was always involved in the church community and they were often our second family. When I was younger, I was involved in the youth leadership programs and helped plan activities for other kids my age. I also have taught a Sunday School class while I was at college and loved every minute of studying the scriptures and discussing them with my peers. I am now serving as a full time missionary for my Savior, Jesus Christ, to share the joy this gospel gives me to the people of North Carolina and soon Brazil.
