Hi I'm Marissa Paxman

Raised in Utah. I love my family. I laugh, play, and debate. Through the Lord, I will change lives. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Even though I'm just 18 at the moment, my life revolves around the Lord and His gospel. I love it with all my heart! However, I am definitely not perfect! (haha) I LOVE to play. I play soccer, golf, board games, wii, pinball, and piano! To my parents dismay, I was born to debate. I research politics, wars, and keep up on the news just because it intrigues me. I know I was given this talent for a reason and I hope to be one of the good leaders in this country and change lives for the better! I am fluent in Spanish (thanks to the Lord) and I just returned from a trip to Guatemala where I taught and spent time with a native Mayan tribe. (they are amazing and I cannot wait to return, I love those people.) I am headed to BYU and after the first semester I am going to serve the Lord wherever He sends me. :) After that I plan on getting married to the man of my dreams (currently unknown) in the temple, going to law school, and starting a family. :) I can't wait.

Why I am a Mormon

I am absolutely positive that I have a Heavenly Father that knows me personally and loves me personally. I know that Jesus Christ is my older brother, He sacrificed His life for me and suffered for my sins so that I wouldn't have to. I love them both. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church with the true gospel, a living prophet, and priesthood power. It is not just a religion that you can put down on a survey when you are asked or something that you attend on Sunday... it is a life style. It is the reason we are here on earth. We are here to follow it's teachings, the teachings of Christ. By following what the Book of Mormon and the church leaders teach, you will find the ultimate joy and happiness. One of the biggest reasons I know this church is true is because it makes it possible that I can be with my family forever. Heaven would not be heaven if I am not sealed to the ones I love. I know that if I stay worthy, enter the temple, and keep my temple covenants, the Lord will always be with me and eventually I will be able to live with Him again in person. I am grateful for the knowledge I have and for the happiness this gospel brings me daily. I am too weak to not read my scriptures and pray every single day. Without the Lord in my life, I am truly nothing. Even though I am not perfect, He makes up for what I am not. I love Him and I love his children. I say these things in His name, even Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have a constant prayer in my heart everyday that I will find at least one person to serve... and that hopefully I can share the gospel in my daily life. I currently serve as a youth leader over the young women in my ward and I love and pray for each one of them... as well as on the missionary council in my stake! However, as I said, it is in the every day acts that I try to serve the Lord and show my faith. I go to the temple at least once a week to perform baptisms for those that have passed on before me that did not get baptized while here on this earth. I also study my scriptures morning, night, and before I do my homework (boy does that help me pass my classes!) I listen to conference talks when I have any spare time... our living prophet Thomas S. Monson and those that serve with him can always calm a troubled mind.
