Hi I'm Garen Bowler

I grew up in Las Vegas and go to college in Logan Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in the Madagascar, Antananarivo mission and left August 7th, 2013. The mission is the best thing that has ever happened to me and there is nothing cooler than the experiences that I am obtaining while serving in Madagascar. Previous to my mission I was a college student in Utah studying Mechanical Engineering. My hobbies include, bike riding, camping, hiking, and spending time with my family and friends. I am an AFROTC cadet and enjoy working out.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints also known as the Mormon church, but decided in college that it was truly right for me as I saw the structure, happiness, and purpose that this church brought into my life. I now know why I am here, where I came from, where I am going, and what I need to do along the way in order to live happily and have eternal life. I also know that when I try to pray or communicate with my Father and Creator in heaven, he anwers back. Because of that I know that this church is true and that He has told me that by being in this church I can have an eternal family which is the greatest of all of God's gifts. By being a member of this church I have no reasons to doubt my existence, my relationships with my friends and family, as well as what I came into this life to accomplish.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping to the agreements I made to God by entering into His true church. By doing that the Lord has promised me blessings and constantly helps me in my life. There are also many worldly things that people my age typically do that I refrain from. Most importantly though I live my faith now by living in Madagascar giving the Lord all of my time and effort to try and help others appreciate the truth and happiness that I have in my life. I speak their language, I eat their food, I try their work, I live their culture, and I laugh and cry with them.

What is the priesthood?

Garen Bowler
The Priesthood is the sacred authority to work and speak in God's name in order to accomplish His work here on earth. The Lord's work here on earth is to help His children to return to Him in eternal families to have eternal happiness. In order to do this He has given this authority to His servants to lead and direct His church here on earth acccording to the council His gives them in order to accomplish that work. This work is accomplished by things called ordinances and covenants. Ordinances are the things that we do physically in order make covenants with God, i.e. bapitsm. The covenant is the two way promise, contract, or agreement that is formed with God. When we perform these things we are doing God's work and therefore it must be done through His authority in order for it to be valid and eternal. I know that through the presence of God's authority here on earth I can enter into His sacred house, the temple, perform sacred ordinances, to have the Lord's promise that as long as I live faithfully I can have an eternal family and eternal happiness in His presence.
