Hi I'm Glenys

I was a nurse all my life. I served as a nurse for two years in Hong Kong as a nurse. I love the Gurkha. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I volunteer at the RSPCA shop. I love to do this because I get to know people and it feels good to raise funds to help treat animals who have been cruelly treated. I enjoy doing family history. I like being a detective and getting my teeth into something that is difficult to find. When I get my teeth into something I will not give up! I search every nook and cranny. I like helping other people to do their family history. I have helped people in the past by going to their homes and helping them out. My family are not members of the church. I am a mother of two boys and I have a husband named David who are all members of the church. My husband is wonderful. He has disabilities from a motorbike crash that left him in bad condition. Doctors say that he should be in a wheelchair. He presses forward though and does things that some able bodied men wouldn't even do.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a Methodist, I realized there was more to religion than going to church on a Sunday. I felt that I should look around other churches. I felt that the Lord was guiding me and when I was working in a hospital ward, a student there told me about the Church. The standards of the church matched my own. She then took me to the church nearby and I was taught the gospel. I prayed to know if it was true and I found out that it was. She told me where I could find a church near my home and then I found the missionaries. It blossomed from there. After I was baptized I wanted to increase my testimony. I decided to pray and fast to know the truth. I went to bed one night not knowing the church was true and I woke up the next morning and I knew that it was true! I am not sure what happened during but I knew without a doubt that it was true. I have never doubted the church since. I have just built up my testimony. When I pray about things with a desire to know that truth I know He always answer my prayers. I served a mission in Scotland and I met so many wonderful people. I helped them in their conversion into the gospel. I came home and had callings in the church, met my husband, and it has blossomed from there.

How I live my faith

In the church I work as a family history consultant. I go to people homes or they come to mine and I sit down with them and help them search out their ancestors. I like to talk to people about the church and give them "pass-along cards." I like to help the missionaries. We love to go with them to teach people and to help bring others into the gospel.
