Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in Utah County, UT. I served a mission in Mexico City. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Dad, going to college and working full-time. In my younger years I used to play a lot of music. I learned first how to play the drums, then guitar, bass guitar and a little ukulele. I love my family very much.

Why I am a Mormon

Regardless of whether you're "born into a religion" or not - if you're honest with yourself, you will at one point or another question what you want to do/believe for the rest of your life. I was born in Utah, with parents that were Mormon, and they taught me about the church, and the doctrine of the church. One consistent theme was reading the Book of Mormon and asking God if it was true. To make a long story short - when I was about 16 some difficult things happened in my family that effected my life a lot. I spent serious time and thought about what direction I was going to go in my life and if I wanted to continue with this religion. In the middle of all of this soul-searching, I decided that I didn't want to read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it was true - I NEEDED to do it. I began reading every day and praying every day about the Book of Mormon and I dedicated this part of my life to finding answers from God (and not just re-assurance from parents, friends or other members of the faith). - What I learned in this period is that God loves us, He watches us, and He answers our prayers. I know that The Book of Mormon is here today, for us, because He loves us and knows that we need His help. The book comes from Him. It was not written by a man with his own devices - it was written and brought to us by the spirit and power of God. Since then many of my prayers have been answered, sometimes less and sometimes more profound than at this moment. But this constant re-assurance I can receive from God Himself in prayer has taught me that this is His church, and He is directing it today.

How I live my faith

I currently am waiting (hoping) to be assigned some level of responsibility again. In the past I've taught children, young adults, older adults. Most recently I helped my local ward facilitate the organization of adult and teen Sunday School. I recently moved and am hoping to be assigned some level of responsibility in my new local area.
