Hi I'm Rebecca

I live in Arlington, Virginia. I'm a photographer and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Arlington, VA. I am an event and portrait photographer. I especially love working with and photographing children. I first became interested in photography while taking a workshop on how to teach children literacy through photography. I fell in love with the process of developing and printing film in the darkroom. I also developed an appreciation for how the arts can help children work through difficult experiences and express emotions that they may not be able to verbalize. I love running, history, travel, music, cooking and nutrition. I love to read biographies and anything about how the human brain functions.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky to gain my own testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at a young age. My parents always encouraged me to explore my interests and talents. I'm grateful they also gave me the tools to explore the religion they chose for themselves and to gain my own knowledge and confidence in it's principles. I finished reading the Book of Mormon for the first time when I was 7 years old. As I grew more and more familiar with the Book of Mormon and the Bible I felt connected to the people and their stories. Their testimonies all taught me to look to Christ for direction. I developed a love for his nature and characteristics. I learned to turn to the scriptures for answers to questions and struggles in my life and always had a strong assurance that God was real and was watching over me. When I prayed I felt He was listening and guiding me. Consistently doing these things in my life has helped me feel a peace, clarity and increased confidence in Him that I've never been able to feel any other way. When I try to live the principles he lived and taught they help refine me and make feel closer to God.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by making Jesus Christ the center of my life and trying to live His teachings. Sometimes this is not easy as life gets busy and there are a lot of distractions but every time I put Him first I know He gives me extra strength and guidance. For me, part of putting him first in my life is dedicating time to serve in my church responsibilities, making time for my family and friends and trying to be there for those who need my help.
