Hi I'm Davis Wilkinson

I love listening to country music and John Mayer. Rain is my favorite kind of weather. I'm from Oregon, USA and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The happiest moment of my life was when I went to a John Mayer concert. If I could choose to be anywhere, it would be with my family on a cool boat in a warm lake. I've lived in Oregon, Utah, Texas, Boston, and Australia, but I must say, there's nothing better than the Oregon way of life. Growing up my mother taught me how to smile, make friends, and put others first. Like everyone else, I'm in the pursuit of happiness, and I want my life to make the world a little bit of a better place. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ is teaching me how to really find joy and become a good husband and father in the future. I'm especially thankful for God's commandments because they protect me from bad habits and other consequences that would limit my freedom and ability to live a full life.

Why I am a Mormon

I think it all started with my angel mother. I remember seeing her read from the Book of Mormon every day, glasses on her nose, soaking in the comfort of the words of God. My mother also loved General Conference. I look back now and can realize that she really believed that those speaking were prophets and apostles of God. My mother taught me to search for the truth myself. So, from a young age, I read the scriptures every day. I always wanted to be like Nephi. He was my favorite Book of Mormon hero because he was so obedient and such a good brother. I honestly can't remember the first time I felt the Spirit. I'm confident, however, that I first felt His voice as I read from the scriptures. I knew from my youth that the Bible and Book of Mormon were true. I loved their words; it felt like God was speaking directly to me through their pages. Understanding the Book of Mormon is the word of God naturally leads to believing that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's church on the earth, with living prophets and apostles. I've had so many witnesses since then about the reality of Jesus Christ as our Saviour and as Joseph Smith as a prophet, but it all started with the Book of Mormon. That book truly is the foundation of faith, and I know that if anyone honestly reads its words, they will come to know by the spirit of God that it is true and living evidence of the Restoration.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in Australia. I meet with people every day, helping them to come unto Christ and be healed. Australia is such a wonderful and diverse place. At my last count, I met and had spiritual, personal conversations with people from almost 80 countries. Meeting so many different cultures has opened my eyes. Sure, we all have differences, but deep down, we're all the same. We all need to feel loved and important. We need something to hope for, and a way to forget about the past. The restored gospel fills all of these needs. Any trial, any missing piece of anyone's life, can be filled with the love of God and the guidance of His gospel. I've seen it work in the lives of people from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and America. I know Jesus Christ is the Saviour of us all -- His teachings and His unending love reach out to any heart and any soul. I live my faith as I do my best to follow Christ's example. I can do my small part in building the kingdom of God, and live contented that I served the Saviour to the best of my ability, making someone's burdens even just a little bit lighter.
