Hi I'm Melanie

I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. I love music & science! I was a missionary in southern Chile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I love the beautiful effect that the gospel has had on my life! I love living in the United States. Culture and holidays here bring me joy. I play the piano and I LOVE to sing! I've been in choir since the fifth grade. I attend Brigham Young University and I am studying to become a civil engineer. I served as a missionary in southern Chile (Chile Osorno Mission). My biggest dream is to one day get married in the temple and raise a family of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love my Savior Jesus Christ and His children. I have learned about other religions, but I haven't felt the same peace, joy, and love anywhere but in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though I was born in the Church, I have developed a testimony of my own that this church is true. I believe in my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and loves me, and I know that He loves all of His children. He atoned for all of our sins, pains, and sorrows. He understands our every experience and has sent the Holy Ghost to comfort us on earth. I know that this is His gospel. It contains all of the pieces, and following His word will one day lead us to live with Him again. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It is honestly another testament of Jesus Christ. I find advice, answers, and peace as I read the Book of Mormon and the other scriptures. The scriptures are His word. I know that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, and that he was able to bring the Book of Mormon to us. I know that the temple is the house of the Lord, and that when we go there, we feel closer to the Lord. He is watching over us every day. We are never alone--we need only to reach toward Him in prayer. I love the Lord. I love His gospel. I live His gospel because it gives me the peace and clarity that I need to be happy and to make good decisions. It also gives me the courage to serve with love.

How I live my faith

I strive to pray and study my scriptures every day. This keeps me closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It also helps me to be a better sister, daughter, and friend. Every Sunday, I go to church because I feel peace and direction for my life. I am a visiting teacher. This means that every month I visit another sister in my congregation. I try to be a good helper and friend for her. I also help with music at church. Often I play the piano or conduct they hymns. As a missionary, I visited with many people to share the gospel message I love with their families. I am constantly seeking ways to serve and become a better friend. I love to visit the elderly folks' home, and I love to study my family history.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required to serve a mission--but many of us want to serve. We love what we believe, and our lifestyle makes us so happy that we just want the whole world to know about it. If I could help a single person to be as happy as I am by living the gospel, then I would have made a positive difference in the world. Missions are completely voluntary--but they are such a wonderful way to help other people feel loved! Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely! Our church is officially called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We love Jesus Christ, and we believe in Him as our Savior. We celebrate His Atonement and resurrection every single day. Show more Show less
