Hi I'm Steve Goold

I am a Husband,Father and Registered Nurse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the husband of a strong intelligent wife and the father of five good independent minded children. I enjoy learning about people and have traveled much of the world. Two of my favorite places are New York City where I served a mission for my Church and Saudi Arabia where I served as a registered nurse during Operation Desert Storm. I enjoy nature and motorcycle riding.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this Church because it teaches me how to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Being a disciple does not mean that I am perfect because I am far from it. It means to me that I am learning to follow my Savior a little bit better each day. The gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in this Church has changed my life and continues to change it for the better. I have a strong belief that Joseph Smith was taught by God and that the Book of Mormon is true. The Book of Mormon is Christ-centered and bears a true testimony of Him. I have experienced the "fruits" of membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and know that it is lead by inspiration and revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ. This continuous revelation means to me that the Church is continuing to grow and progress just as I am.

How I live my faith

Service to the Lord and His children is very important to me. I have enjoyed serving the youth in such activities as scouting and adults by teaching and administering to their spiritual needs. My wife and I presently serve as missionaries in the LDS Family Services Addiction Recovery Program. This is where we minister in the jail, prison and "groups" held in local chapels. The Addiction Recovery Program organizes principles of the Gospel around the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are blessed to see the miracle of the Atonement of Jesus Christ weekly.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Steve Goold
As I understand the gospel it teaches me that God is real and the universe is real and that we are all Gods spirit children. That He loves us and cares for us and has a purpose for our lives. Part of that purpose is to come to earth where our spirits can be clothed in a physical body. Here we can learn to maneuver threw this earth life and follow our Savior Jesus Christ. In this life we are presented with both good and bad choices and though we want to always choose the good and follow Christ the reality is that we do not always get it right. When we choose those things that cause harm and pain to ourselves and others that is called sin. To go back to live with our Heavenly Father we need to become free from sin, that is why a Savior was provided for us. A big part of Gods purpose for us is to be happy and enjoy all the good things he has provided for us in this life. We find this happiness as we learn to repent of our sins and turn to Christ and follow Him. Show more Show less
