Hi I'm Lisa

I grew up in Utah and have always been a Mormon. I work as a nurse and love being a mom to my two small children.

About Me

My husband and I have two small children (ages 2 and 1). After we adopted our son in 2010, we were thrilled to discover that I was pregnant. Our daughter was born just 10 months after our son. It is kind of like having twins, and keeps me pretty busy. I work part-time as a registered nurse (RN) with a specialty in infection control and quality improvement. I became a nurse 10 years ago and I love how my job has given me the flexibility to care for my family. I love to run in my spare time. My dad has been running for 45 years, so I must have inherited something from him. Right now I am training to run my first full marathon in September 2013. I also enjoy reading, music, being outdoors, and playing games with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life, and I honestly don't know what I would do without this Church to help me. There have been countless times when I have had to rely on the Savior and Church teachings to help me get through hard times. One example is when my husband and I were dealing with infertility as we tried to have a baby. That was such a hard thing for me to experience, but as I read the Book of Mormon and prayed for comfort, I knew that Jesus understood how I was feeling. I also was given a feeling of comfort and peace that whatever happened, it would be what was best for our family. I can't imagine having to go through life or caring for my family without the peace that I get from this church. I love knowing that Jesus loves me and wants me to succeed; He is there to lead and guide me.

How I live my faith

I participate in my church by teaching the other women in our congregation. I am assigned to teach one Sunday per month. I have loved this assignment because I feel like I always learn so much more when I prepare a lesson and from hearing the comments that others in the class share. Teaching these lessons has helped build my personal testimony about Jesus Christ and His Church. I am also assigned to visit two other women in our congregation at least monthly. These visits allow us to build friendships and make sure that they and their families are doing okay. They know that they can call me if they are having a problem or need help with anything.
