Hi I'm James R. Deuel

I grew up in a small town in SE Idaho called Blackfoot. I'm a Mormon and have a strong testimony of this great gospel.

About Me

I am currently married to a wonderful woman and we have been together for 44 years. We have 3 wonderful children and 5 grandchildren. I have been employed in many professions but the most prominent of that of being a full-time paid firefighter. I served as a FF, EMT/Paramedic, Fire Captain, Division Chief, and Fire Chief. I love to hunt, fish, camp, ride 4 wheelers and motorcycles, golf, and spend time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a non-active LDS family. My mother was a member but my father was not. I had many friends who were active LDS members and they encouraged me to join them in the church. I was baptised at age 12. I was not very active but always knew that the gospel had to be the right thing to do. I met my future wife while still in high school. She was a member and although not really active she was closer to the church than I was. After my wife and I were married, me at age 19 and her at age 18 we were helped into activity by a wonderful ward Bishop and his wife. They guided us into activity and helped us to better understand the importance of activity and devoting our lives to serving Christ. We were sealed to each other in the temple about 1 year after our civil marriage. I have a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love being a member of the Church and feel my life is guided by my testimony and the inspiration of the Holy Ghost in my life.

How I live my faith

In the church I have served in many positions from Cub Scouts, Scout Leader, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and Bishops counselor. I am currently serving as the president of the Young Mens organization in our local ward. This is a wonderful calling and opportunity to work with the youth. I am 64 years old so my age is starting to slow me down at outdoor and camping activities but I love sharing my testimony and faith in Jesus Christ with the young men.
