Hi I'm Scott

I grew up in Utah. I now live in Arizona with my wonderful wife and five boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of five boys ranging from two to 14 years old. My beautiful wife is an amazing mother to our boys, and she is also the co-owner of a dance studio. I enjoy hiking, playing video games with my boys, as well as attending their soccer games. On Saturday or Sunday afternoon we love to make popcorn and watch a family movie together. For the past 12 years I have worked in sales, primarily in the pharmaceutical industry. When I'm not at work, I love reading, baking bread, and my five year old and I enjoy making chocolate chip cookies together. I am always in awe of the new discoveries in astronomy, and I love visiting NASA's website, APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day).

Why I am a Mormon

My great grandfather, five generations back, was taught the gospel by the Prophet Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon in the city of Freedom, New York. In September of 1834, he was baptized by Warren Cowdery, and was confirmed a member of the church by his brother, Oliver Cowdery. My parents are members of the church, and they taught me about repentance and baptism, and choosing the right. When I was eight years old, I was baptized and confirmed a member of the church by my father. I recall being filled with an intense joy and love that stayed with me for two or three days, which I later came to understand that those feelings were from the Holy Spirit (see Galatians 5:22: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith"). When I was 19, I was called to serve a Spanish-speaking mission in Texas, USA, for two years. It was probably the most difficult two years of my life, but it was also some of the most rewarding years of my life, as I was able to teach and to testify of our Savior and His Gospel which He and His Father have restored again to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. On countless occasions since my baptism, the Holy Spirit has witnessed to me that my Father in Heaven loves you and me, that Jesus Christ is His Holy Son, and that Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer, suffered and died for you and me, and that He rose from the dead on the third day as a resurrected being, and that He lives today. This testimony that God has given me has guided me throughout my life. When I sin or make mistakes, I know that I can repent and receive forgiveness through the grace and atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am nothing without Him. Independent of any person, I can tell you, in humility, that I know these things are true, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

How I live my faith

I enjoy attending church each week with my family, where I am spiritually fed. I also participate in Home Teaching on a monthly basis, visiting a couple of families we have been assigned to help and watch over. I also have a calling as the Cubmaster, where once a month I lead the Cub Scout pack meeting in our area in where the 8 to 11 year old Cub Scout boys receive various awards and rank advancements that they have worked on during the past month. From time to time on Sunday at church I also enjoy being a substitute teacher in the Primary teaching the children, as well as being a substitute teacher in Sunday School/Gospel Doctrine, a class for the adults.
