Hi I'm Kaitlyn Smith

I'm a happy-go-lucky person. I love spending time with others, but I'll always need some me time. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle child and only girl in a family of five kids and have enjoyed almost every minute of it! I love spending time with my family and friends and getting to know them more closely. Since the second grade I have been doing Taekwondo through the American Taekwondo Association and have been able to achieve many goals that I have set for myself because of it. Being a part of organizations that help create a sense of community is something I hold near.

Why I am a Mormon

Being born into a family that is active in the Mormon church set me up for the time I needed to decide for myself if it was true and what I wanted in my life. When I was young I was very active in the church as well, but as time moved forward I lost sight of the things around me. I realized that I didn't know if I wanted to be Mormon. I stopped being actively engaged in church when I was in middle school and only went because my parents wanted me to. Throughout high school I continued this and never took the time to actually study and think about if this is what I wanted in my life. After graduating high school I took time off and ended up moving to Canada to take care of my grandmother who had ALS (lou gehrig's disease) until she passed away. This time was especially difficult for me because she was the only person I really knew and I had become her caretaker. She was VERY active in her church calling as the choir director and dragged me to church with her every Sunday, and eventually things became easier! I started reading the Book of Mormon every night to give me spiritual strength as I was a part of the final stages of my grandmother's life. The confidence and patience I was able to receive from doing so changed me forever. There is no way I could have been the sole caretaker for my grandmother without the help that I received. It is because of Jesus Christ and his Atonement that I was able to lean on someone who knew exactly what I was going through and gain all my strength. I know that without Jesus Christ, without the Book of Mormon, and without the understanding that came through my experiences, I would not be where I am today. I am so grateful for all of the trials I have faced in my life and for all of the help I have had along the way. When we humble ourselves enough to ask for help from our Best Friend, he will show us the path to eternal life, and I know that path is the gospel of Jesus Christ. This church contains the fullness of the gospel here today.

How I live my faith

Throughout my membership in the church I have had many opportunities to serve those around me. I have done a lot of service projects in the community through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including clean-up work, kids fairs and many other activities! As a missionary right now, those opportunities have increased immensely and the love I have for those around me and for my Savior has increased even more. There are so many ways I can live my faith, and the best I have found is living by example. "What Would Jesus Do" has played a big role in the way I make decisions and how I treat people and situations I come across.
