Hi I'm Regina

I am a single parent and I am a Mormon!

About Me

Whenever people ask me what church I attend and I tell them, "Church of Jesus Christ Latterday Saints", I get the "side eye". It is usually followed by a comment about me not fitting the description. I am a single parent who has never been married and I am African American from SC. I am a avid gamer, full-time student and I bring home the bacon...and Yes, I am a Mormon and I love it. The scriptures give me amazing joy and been a gigantic source of comfort.

Why I am a Mormon

Last year the missionaries show up at my door and my then 13 year old son answered and invited them in. I was a very apprehensive but my son was very eager to learn and anticipated their return for more lessons. I on the other hand was a brick wall that had to be disassembled. My son decided to be baptized and as his mom it was my duty to support him. So I started to read the Book of Mormon. Despite my skepticism, suspicion, and what I thought was love of my secular life, the Book of Mormon began to speak to me. All of a sudden, on a drive to work, I was compelled to call the missionaries and tell them that I wanted to become a full fledged Mormon (not just a supporter). I felt that what I had read was true and was being drawn to act on it. It was one of the best decisions of my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to set the best example that I can for my son and my family. My son and I are the Mormons in a family of historical Baptists and AME Church members. Therefore, we are how they interpret Mormons to be. (Big responsibility!) I I share what I have learned about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon with family members who have been curious enough to ask. It's kind of funny because my mother can "school" anyone Joseph and Emma Smith.
