Hi I'm Doug

I was born and raised in Brooks Alberta were I grew up living the farm life. I am a proud Mormon.

About Me

I am an automotive service technician who enjoys his work. I love the outdoors which includes everything from hiking, camping, playing sports, to even a bit of hunting. Growing up on the farm has given me a great appreciation for the smaller things in life. I am married with a beautiful wife and two lovely step-daughters. I also love guns and knives as a collector.

Why I am a Mormon

Have you heard about the Holy Ghost? As a member of the church I feel the spirit with me at all times. As long as I live a life that is acceptable to our heavenly father I know that the Holy Ghost will be there to guide me and help me make those all important decisions in life. Most people know the difference between right and wrong. The Holy Ghost helps us to not only choose right or wrong, but He is there to guide us with the important decisions that we make through out our entire lives. A warm feeling in our heart or possibly a still small voice inside our head to guide us and let us know we are heading in the right direction. There is a feeling of family and friendship in the church that is hard to find now days. People want to and are willing to help others. By helping our fellow man we become not only better people, but we become more like our Heavenly Father who is kind and generous beyond our knowledge. As members of the church we all know that when the time comes to leave this world we will begin our journey back to live with our Heavenly Father. The friendship and love that is felt here is only a small taste of what we will feel in our Heavenly Fathers presence. I am in no hurry to leave this life, but when I do, I know that there is a place of peace and happiness waiting for me so long as I live a worthy life here on earth.

How I live my faith

It is a great pleasure and honor to work with the youth. I am a Venture leader in my ward and couldn't ask for a better calling in the church. Being part of these young men's lives helps me to see the important picture. That is very simply the future. Helping and watching them grow also helps me to grow and understand how important it is to prepare for the future. Of course we all prepare by getting an education or a steady job, maybe preparing a food storage or an emergency plan, but having faith in our savior Jesus Christ also helps us to prepare for the unknown. Having faith in Christ gives me the ability to carry on day by day and not worry about what might happen. I have seen many times in my life that by following our savior we will not be lead astray. If we have faith in Jesus Christ no matter what trial we face, we can and will over come it.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

NO we do not worship Joseph Smith. He is a prophet of God. He is the prophet who translated the Book of Mormon and restored The Church of Jesus Christ on this earth after it was lost many years ago. We worship our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and of the church as is our living prophet today. We as members of the church follow the words of our prophet because it ultimately comes from our Father in Heaven, just as it did in the times of the Bible or the Book of Mormon many years ago. How can I know Mormonism is true?

There are a couple of ways to fully know if this is a true church. One must first and foremost pray to Heavenly Father with an open heart and have faith that you will receive your answer. Secondly scripture study. The Bible is a true and correct record if it is translated properly and is great to read, but by reading and praying about The Book of Mormon you will absolutely gain a testimony about the truthfulness of the church.
