Hi I'm David W. Newman

I grew up in Southern California, have lived in various states as an adult, and practice law. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father. My wife and I have been married over 20 years. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in political science. From there, I went onto law school and have practiced law in California, Oklahoma and Idaho.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) because I have learned for myself that it is God's church. There is a God. He is our Father in Heaven. He loves us so much that he gave His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to be our Savior and Redeemer. He has not abandoned us. He has restored His authority to the Church. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. The Church continues to be guided by revelation, just as it was in the days of the New Testament. I have witnessed this repeatedly and have felt profound confirmations of these things by the Spirit of God in very concrete ways. He has guided my family's lives and because of it, we have been blessed with the constant companionship of His Spirit and the peace that only He can provide in a world that so often struggles for peace. For example, on one occasion following hearings in court, I was followed to the parking lot by an opposing attorney. He stopped me, and commented that he noted something different about me - he felt a special peace that was with me and wanted to know why. I told him this came from my membership in God's church. I have seen this great blessing come into the lives of so many others who have received His gospel. Anyone can receive this peace and all the beautiful blessings God desires to give His children. He lovingly invites everyone to come to Him and be blessed. I know that all those who seek with a sincere intention to know whether the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's church will receive an answer; if they ask our Father in Heaven in the name of Jesus Christ and if they ask with a determination to follow what He tells them is true.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the example of Jesus Christ in all aspects of my life. In addition to serving in professional organizations over the years, I have been privileged to serve in many positions in the Church. For example, I have been a leader of a congregation followed by serving in a congregation's nursery on Sundays. Regardless of the capacity in which I have served in the Church, it has been a privilege to serve others and try to do so as Jesus would. Before completing college, I served as a missionary in Mexico for two years. I learned far more in those two years, particularly regarding things that matter most, than I learned in seven years of college and law school.
