Hi I'm Braden Holmes

I'm from Utah County. I love lacrosse, Parkour, writing, and fly-fishing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Braden. I love hiking and being outdoors. I hunt. I fish. I cliff-jump. I go boating whenever I get the chance. I love other cultures and languages. I am fluent in English and Spanish, and just started to learn Navajo. I am currently preparing for an LDS mission. I recently picked up a love for Lacrosse and Soccer. My favorite animals are wolverines, jaguars, llamas, and horses; I love all animals though-they fascinate me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Book of Mormon is a true and inspired record given to us by the grace of God. As I read its pages, peace enters my life and become a better person. Like many Latter-day Saints (Mormons) in Utah and especially in Utah County, I was born into this religion. However, I strayed from the right path for a while and found only misery and no peace or comfort. As I realized that I could truly repent and forever change my ways, that knowledge gave me hope, and soon that hope grew and grew. I had to gain my own testimony of the Book of Mormon and the Prophet just like any convert; truly, we all are converts. I love the gospel and delight in the fact that we have a modern-day Prophet, Seer, and Revelator and that God is in charge, and not man; we've all seen how quickly man by himself can ruin a good thing. Miracles and revelation do exist still today and I rejoice in this.

How I live my faith

The way I practice my faith is simple: I try to live like Jesus Christ and develop His characteristics; I try to become as my Heavenly Father wants me to be; I have faith in Them even when life gets difficult-it doesn't make sense to me to abandon Them when the road gets steep and rocky and blame Them for the problems of life-They'll help me through it! I help those that need help and strive to find opportunities to serve other people at all times. I stand up for those that are lonely, or "unpopular" according to the world's standard, and strive to just be different than the rest of the world. I go to Church every Sunday because that is what my Savior wants me to do and because it unites us as a people and you feel peace in our meetinghouses. I try to fulfill all my duties and obligations with a positive attitude and all-in-all just try to love everyone I meet.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Braden Holmes
In all reality, God created everything; He created us as well. Therefore, we owe everything to Him and even then, we still couldn't fully pay Him back for everything He's done for us. When you think about it in that perspective, ten percent really isn't much at all. That ten percent is used to further God's work here on the earth: to build temples in which to perform ordinances; to build meetinghouses; to provide for the maintenance of these building. The ten percent we give is really put back into the Church for our benefit if you really think about it. And after all is said and done, the Lord will bless us for our sacrifice and provide for our needs. Show more Show less
