Hi I'm Gretchen Knight

I like making desserts. I love to serve others. I love to learn. I love to be happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of four children and love spending time with my family. We like to sing songs and have dance parties. I am a college student, and I love math. Because of this, I'm most likely going to be studying Math Education. I love baking cookies and eating fresh fruit. As an avid reader, I would rather read a book than watch a movie any-day. In the future, I hope to inspire kids to love mathematics, but mostly I want people to know that hard work can enable their dreams. I hope to read more books about history and people and to travel the world. I love watching sunsets and finding beauty in my day to day life. I love a good adventure. I enjoy talking to other people and finding out about their interests.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the happiness and peace I feel in my life when I am following the teachings and principles of the Gospel. I know that life goes so much smoother when I am studying and pondering the scriptures and having daily communion with my Heavenly Father. Life is hard. But with God, life is good. In the book of Ether, (6: 2-13), the Jaredite people load up provisions into the barges and set sail. The Lord sends tempests and furious winds to push them to the promised land. Sometimes in our lives, it may feel like the Lord is pushing us and burying us in the depths of the sea, but He is truly guiding us to the promised land, to that ultimate goal: the Celestial Kingdom. Just the like the Jaredite people, I know that the Lord has a great plan in mind for me and that by relying on Him, I can make it back to His presence. By being a member of this church, I can learn truths and knowledge that helps me survive the storms and tempests of life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by finding opportunities to serve and help those around me. I like to find small, simple acts of service to secretly perform to help make someone's day better than it was before. In my congregation, I served as a teacher for the women's group. It was so interesting to get to learn more about gospel topics and then facilitate discussions for the ladies in my ward. Another way that I live my faith is by serving a mission. I am preparing to serve in the Texas Dallas Mission. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Gospel, and I want to share this happiness and knowledge with the people around me. Growing up in Utah, it sometimes was hard to stick out from the crowd and show that I was member of the LDS Church, but I found that standing up for others and for my beliefs was how I could make the biggest impact on those around me.
