Hi I'm Kate

I'm a writer. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm 20 years old, and serving a full time mission in the Washington Everett Mission I lived with my mom and her husband. I have 2 brothers, a sister, (and a sister in-law) along with 7 step siblings. I'm a writer, a reader, and a self proclaimed geek. I believe that the Atonement of Jesus Christ changes lives and has changed my own multiple times. I believe that love makes the world go round and that everyone has a story to tell and their own battles and scars to show. I know Christ loves all of us and that His teachings, and his influence directly affect our lives through His restored gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church as were my parents and their parents and so on until about the 1800's. When I was 14 my parents split up and my father left the church. This drastic change in my life caused me to fall into a spout of depression. I felt alone, heartbroken, and confused about everything. I would spend endless amounts of time in my room crying and pleading with God to explain why He would tear my family apart like that. And my sadness made me feel weak and pitiful. No one else around me seemed to suffer, so I assumed that made me strange and wrong to be upset. It wasn't until I confessed this feeling of worthlessness to a therapist that I received the greatest advice of my life. "The savior wept in Gethsemane. Did that make Him weak?" This simple phrase turned me to Christ. I felt suddenly overwhelmed with comfort that I was not alone. All the pain I was feeling had been felt before by someone much greater than me. Christ walked through His mortal life hated, scorned, mocked, and alone so I would never have to. This knowledge gave me strength to move on, get the help I needed, and I got better. Since then I have followed Christ, and obeyed His teachings to show my gratitude for his sacrifice for me. I want to be with Him again someday.

How I live my faith

I previously advised the young women of the church and helped organize weekly events to bring us together as a group. I help teach lessons about the church to the youth and try to be an example of my beliefs in my everyday life. I am currently dedicating 18 months of my life to serve the people in Washington by helping them learn and better understand their Father in Heaven's love and plan for them. I want people to know what I believe and show them that it can help them in their lives.
