Hi I'm Heather

I love to read and play sports. I am a future nurse. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am currently a junior at Brigham Young University and I am learning the Healer's art as I am pursuing a career as a nurse. I will graduate as a Registered Nurse in 2015 and I am excited to help others physically, mentally, and emotionally throughout my nursing career. I love to play and watch sports. My favorite is volleyball closely followed by basketball, football, and gymnastics. When I am not busy studying I love to go hiking, swimming, and playing card games with my friends. I also love trying and making new food from different cultures. My most recent new food obsession has been indian and greek food! I love to read! I especially love young adult literature. I also love to spend time with my family. I have 3 older sisters, 1 older brother, 1 niece, and 4 nephews with another on the way!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a Mormon family and grew up in Utah my entire life. This created a sort of bubble in my life but it also created other difficulties. Throughout my childhood and my teenage years I felt that I was a Mormon because it was expected of me. Then I moved out and went to college. This provided me with the greatest opportunity of my life. Now, living on my own, away from my family, I have truly chosen for myself that I want to be a member of His church. Through my own personal growth and study, I have discovered that His gospel is true and I want to please my Heavenly Father in every way that I can. I want to keep the commandments and follow His direction because I know this is what will help me become the very best person I can become. In addition to wanting to become the best person I can, His gospel has provided comfort to me in times of need. A couple of years ago I went through the darkest days of my life so far. During that time, my only comfort was my Savior and this church. My Heavenly Father and Savior provided for me in my darkest days and helped me to see the hope that they have to offer me. I know that if any person who seeks comfort asks our Heavenly Father for help, He will provide. I am a Mormon because I know, without any doubt, that His church is true and that we will all be able to draw near to him and become truly happy in this life and the life to come.

How I live my faith

The simplest way that I live my faith is my trying to live how my Heavenly Father would have me live. I try my best to keep the commandments and to draw nearer to Him through prayer. I know that He is aware of my needs and helps me as I endeavor to become the best person I can as I live my faith. I am currently serving the sisters in my singles ward as a 2nd counselor in the Presidency of our Relief Society (an organization of women that meet together to learn and grow). I help to plan activities to help unite the sisters in my ward and to help them to grow in the gospel and in their lives. I also participate in my community through a student nurse's association. I also plan activities for this association to help us grow closer together. This association has helped me draw nearer to my fellow nursing students and to form lasting friendships.
