Hi I'm Victoria

I grew up in California. I lived 16 months in Chile. I'm studying to teach high school spanish. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from the beautiful state of California and grew up in rather large family. I am the third of ten children. On my mother's side the family is Catholic. On my father's Buddhists. Currently I am at the University preparing to be a high school spanish teacher. I learned to speak the language during my 18 month service as a missionary for the Mormon church. There I also learned to greater love and appreciate many different kinds of people with many different kinds of beliefs. Some of the things I love to do include running, kayaking, camping and hiking, reading, singing, ballroom dancing, and well really dabbling in almost anything. I love to learn and work with people. Recently I finished working as a summer camp counselor and loved every minute of it! Traveling to new places and having new experiences is a favorite past-time of mine. Some of my travels include Chile, hawaii, various states and a recent cross-country road trip. I look forward more than anything else to someday be a wife and mother and continue to serve my family and community.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Catholic faith and in my family we have many who have given their lives in the service of God as Priests and Nuns. I love my family and I feel so honored to be from a family who have loved the Lord and served him the best they could. They have prepared the way for me and my family to accept the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. In our church we believe that families can be together forever- but we must do it in the Lord's way. Part of that includes making sacred promises with him under the direction of those who have God's authority. We believe that with the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ the authority of God- called the Priesthood- was also restored. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has that authority and that it is led by Christ through a Prophet in our day- Thomas S. Monson. I know that the Book of Mormon is scripture from God- a record of those who came from Jerusalem to ancient America in the time of the Bible Prophet Jeremiah. It contains as the Bible does the gospel of Jesus of Christ but also the visitation of Jesus to those ancient inhabitants of the Americas shortly after his resurrection from the dead. I know that God has prepared the Book of Mormon for our days to help us understand his plan for us, to be happier now and eternally, and to teach us how we can know the truth of all things for ourselves. Being a member of the church has brought me greater happiness, joy, peace and purpose than anything else ever could. I want everyone to have this peace and happiness and know they are the children of God.

How I live my faith

Each day I study from the scriptures and pray in the morning, in the evening and through-out the day because I know that God is my Father and I want him in my life. I've given many different kinds of non-profit service in and out of my church which include working with youth as a camp counselor, mentor, and teacher. I've been in charge of planning, organizing and running activities both spiritual and social for young adults- all non-profit service. I believe that we should make this world a better place by putting first things first- God, family and others. I try to live my life by this motto: "A thing to be done should never be more important than a person to be loved." The Savior loved and served and I try to emulate that example.
